Illinois Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

Illinois is known as a microcosm of the United States. From the metropolis of Chicago, located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the state's northeast corner, to the plains of the west and the rolling hills and Mississippi River to the south, Illinois is a state for everyone. Hotels in Illinois offer Midwestern hospitality with a modern touch.

The state of Illinois proclaims to be the "Land of Lincoln," and three Illinois state residents, including Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses Grant, and Barack Obama have been elected to the top position in the U.S. Government. In addition, Ronald Reagan was born and raised in the state.

    "Nice hotel for price"
Room was clean and comfy. Soda machine on our floor didn't work and there was a $10 additional charge to our credit card by the hotel in addition to the expedia price charged after check in that we were unaware of and the reason behind them.

"Beautiful hotel with excellent downtown location."
My six-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago was great! This hotel has everything you need under one roof. My room was large, extremely clean and we'll-equipped. I appreciated having the safe right in the room to keep all my valuable items. The cleaning staff was there every morning and did an excellent job. I loved the large-screen t.v.'s on the main floor of the east tower which were always on. I could grab a snack from the market store, sit at one of the large tables and watch "headline news" or "espn". The conceierge was extremely kind and helpful. This location is within easy walking distance of Navy Pier, the Art Institute, Millenium Park and Water Tower Place. A very short walk to Michigan Avenue and you can take the CTA bus to the Field Museum and Shedd Aauarium! The hotel was crowded though with many conventions and students!

"View was great, room just ok"
We were allowed to check in early and our first room smelled musty and had a dropped ceiling with what looked like mold on it. We asked to be moved and were moved to a room with a view of the Lake and a room without a dropped ceiling which was much better. the bathroom was very tiny and the tiles on the floor were cracked. I did not walk in the room barefoot at all though the carpet did seem to be clean the bed was ok. We loved the location and were able to walk to everywhere we went. We traveled by train and the walk to the hotel from Union Station was approx 1 mile and took about 20 mins or so. We were there for a concert at The United Center and did not take one Taxi- the walk to the United Center was about 3 miles and took us an hour or so. We walked in the daylight and never felt unsafe. After the concert, we took the special events bus back which dropped us off on Michigan Ave about a 15 min walk from the Hotel. The price was right and for the most part because it was a good experience. The rooms could stand to be updated - especially the bathrooms.
