    When to Visit

Ohio gets cold in the winter, especially near Lake Erie, but that’s no reason to stay inside. Conditions are perfect to strap on your snowshoes or cross-country skis, hit the slopes on a sled, or ice skate. You may even find some locals at a pick-up ice hockey game. If snow just isn’t your thing, come for the beaches in summer. Lake Erie has sandy beaches that are perfect for romance or a family getaway, and you can even surf the waves. Spring and fall are both beautiful seasons. It may not be warm enough to hit the beach, but it’s a great time to take a hike or stroll through the cities on shopping excursions. No matter what time of year you visit, there's plenty to see and do.

    Places to Visit

You could spend practically your entire vacation at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Six floors take you through the history of the genre decade by decade. Exhibits include original manuscripts and instruments used by legends. While you’re in Cleveland, don’t miss the Museum of Natural History. Lucy, humanity's three-million-year-old ancestor, lives here. The dinosaur skeletons are pretty impressive too. The city has plenty to offer, including botanical gardens, an art museum, and playhouses.

Follow the coast of Lake Erie to Cedar Point, an amusement and waterpark with roller coasters, a tidal wave, and more. The park offers everything from camping to luxury accommodations to fit your needs. If you long to leave the crowds behind, Hocking Hills State Park might be the place for you. It showcases the best of Ohio’s natural beauty with caves, waterfalls, and forests. The park is open year-round with naturalist programs and trails for hiking and biking.

    Where to Stay

Some of the most luxurious resorts in Ohio focus on the state’s natural beauty. An all-inclusive vacation on Lake Erie even includes wine-tasting excursions to nearby vineyards. Hotels in Columbus, Ohio, are some of the best in the state. Romantic spas and on-site restaurants provide a comfortable retreat in the city. Many provide indoor pools or game rooms to keep the kids happy. Ohio resorts on the beach are an ideal choice for a relaxing getaway. The options are endless, but with Expedia.com, you can search the hotels in Ohio to find the right one for your perfect vacation.

    Geography of the Buckeye State

Ohio is located in the far north region of the United States, just below Lake Erie. The glaciers that formed the great lakes created stunning geological features all across the state. Just south of Lake Erie, they leveled everything. In fact, this area used to be at the bottom of a much bigger lake that later receded into the Great Lakes that we know today. As you move south through the state, you will notice more and more hills as you reach the edge of the historic ice plains. When Europeans first arrived, all of this area was covered in old-growth forests, but most of that was cleared for lumber. Today, the area is largely open farmland. The edge of the sprawling Appalachian Mountains are in southeast Ohio. This area is still largely wooded, because the terrain is rugged and the soil is poor. Crops don’t flourish here, but it makes for beautiful hiking.

    "Family wedding + unplanned kids"
We had to unexpectedly change our reservation type and the hotel was very accommodating. We had not planned on traveling with kids and then wound up having 2 youngsters with us. The staff was very friendly and willing to help, even helped us in trying to find short term child care, which was a question they'd never had before. We were close to lots of things downtown and a short drive to most outlying areas and activities. We were there for a family wedding and had not planned on actually spending much time at the hotel itself, but it was a pleasant enough stay. only reason it got a 4 instead of a 5 for cleanliness is because there was a banana left in the in room fridge by previous guests. As for comfort, the beds were a little hard for our tastes, but we've been spoiled by a soft bed at home.

We had a nice stay - the hotel is located in a central area. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and nice. The beds are only so-so for comfort. The pool is tiny and in the basement so it is dark and loud, but that didn't stop the kids from swimming, it just wasn't the nicest place to hang out and watch them.

    "A Techies wonderland"
My experience was top notch. The staff was professional and friendly during all interactions. The room was in excellent condition. The bed was very comfortable with many pillows. What I would like to take time to point out is the number of outlets in the room. I know this is something odd to focus on but for the fellow techies out there I think this is helpful. I take a lot of tech with me on the road (2 laptops, smart watch, cell phone, CPAP, secondary phone battery, and 3DS). Often times I run into problems with not having enough outlets for all of these items so I pack a surge strip on most trips. However I did not need it here. There was a surge strip built into the work desk and the tv stand. This allowed all my devices and work laptop to be plugged in at the desk while I was also able to have my gaming laptop connected to the TV for gaming at night. There was also 3 outlets at the base of the light next to the bed. Finally, their dedication to customer service is top notch. For safe keeping I looked up my home/car keys in the room safe. Unfortunately I forgot to retrieve them when I checked out and didn't realize until I was already past security at the airport. I immediately called the hotel, they were extremely understanding and helpful, they immediately went into the room, retrieved the keys, and overnight shipped them to me. Overall, I would say this was one of my most pleasant hotel stays and would recommend this to anyone looking for a good hotel

    "Great location, close to everything"
Room was clean, bed was comfortable, room wasn't that big but it's adequate (23rd floor south tower, supposedly older rooms from other reviews). Wifi was free and good enough to stream Netflix/HBO on, this itself is a big plus given the limited TV selection. Staff is friendly enough and the location is great. Only thing that sucks is the cheapest nearby parking is $16 a night, valet is $25-27 without tip. I didn't have any of the problems some of the other reviewers have had. Hotel restaurant food isn't that great from the two meals I've had there (dinner) and what would you expect from a hotel restaurant. Quesada was good, Cuban sandwich wasn't. Rusconi's pizza is a good bet if you need food or are looking for a bar, It's just across the street. I'de defiantly stay here again.

    "Decent hotel, nice location"
The hotel is in a great location. However, parking for valet is an additional $22. We were fortunate and parked directly across the hotel in a parking garage for only $12 until the next morning. Also, do not think that breakfast is included in price it will cost you an additional $13 a person. The room was quiet large with a king sized bed but definitely needs updated along with the cleanliness. My biggest complaint would be the house keeping. Management needs to make sure the house keeping is taking pride in their work and clean the room up to a standard that would make people feel comfortable. Overall, you're paying for the location of this hotel so for that stay at the hotel but if you're looking for more then I suggest searching around for another stay.

    "Best option with reasonable price"
I stayed here with my family for a two day conference at the Metropolitan at the 9 (which was too expensive to stay) and the Wyndham was more affordable and within walking distance from the downtown Cleveland area attractions. Self parking $15/night and Valet $24/night. Best option is to self park and walk around.
