    Pocket Guide: Oregon

This Pacific Northwest state offers an astonishing variety of scenery and things to do from the urban vibe of Portland to the high desert country of the east to beaches along the coast. Oregon hotels range from funky and eclectic boutique lodgings in Portland to luxury chains, rustic ranch houses, and more, and a cheap Oregon hotel deal can mean the opportunity to see more of this diverse state.

Portland is a fun city known for its excellent restaurant scene, yearly Rose Festival, microbrews, and music scene among other attractions. The climate is mild enough to make it a year-round destination although the best weather is from July to September. Powell’s, the nation’s largest bookstore, is a must for book lovers, while children and their parents alike will enjoy the exhibits at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. The country’s largest urban park, Forest Park, offers miles of hiking trails.

Hiking is big in the rest of the state as well, and Oregon is a top destination for outdoor lovers. Visitors will find stunning scenery just a short drive from the city, and Mt. Hood is the skiing destination of choice for most Portlanders. Skiing is popular in other parts of the state as well, including Bend to the south, where a number of resorts may offer Oregon hotel packages. Cycling, rafting, and other outdoor activities are popular throughout the state too.

The Cascade range of mountains divides the eastern from the western part of the state and marks a significant change in both terrain and climate. Eastern Oregon is ranch and high desert country, and visitors can take in rodeos, visit the John Day Fossil Beds, and retrace parts of the route of 19th-century explorers Lewis and Clark. The best rates and prices on rooms can be found with advance reservations, and it’s also worth asking about a special discount or other cheap hotel deals in Oregon.

To the south, Ashland hosts one of the largest and most popular Shakespeare festivals in the world. Along the coast, towns such as Coos Bay and Lincoln offer art galleries, seafood, and antique shops. Oregon hotel deals can make it possible for visitors to take in more attractions of the state such as these, and many hotels in Oregon can help to arrange activities for their guests.

Excellent hotel room, loved the fillable shampoos etc. Lighting in the room was nice. Very quiet room even though the hotel was full of dancing competition girls.

The customer service was great from the valet people to the front desk people to Dave, the bellman who helped us with our luggage. The room was comfortable. And we liked the bar off the lobby!

My flight left Eugene airport at 0600. To spare my family a 0330 "Rise N Shine" alarm, I chose to use a local hotel. I arrived at 2100 and left at 0400. Since I was there for about 7 hours, my experience is limited. The room smelled clean, the heater worked as intended, the bath was clean. The TV had about 40 channels (great! some places charge for each station). The walls seemed thick enough. The street noise was about absent. The free continental starts at 0600, but I was gone by then so I could not comment on that. The front desk was helpful and provided the code for the internet (some places have not volunteered that for me), and even appeared friendly - even at 0400! My stay was fine. Thank you! I will stay again.

    "Nice affordable motel!!!"
Love the price. If you are like me and inclined to save money on motels, the Broadway Inn is the place to be! All I do is sleep there, so why spend $100+ a night for a bed? If you're sensitive to traffic noise, ask the staff for a room furthest from the street.

Overall good experience, staff courteous, allowed us to check in a few minutes early. Motel was extremely clean and well maintained. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast was included, they had cereal available but we were surprised that you could also order a simple breakfast, eggs, bacon, breakfast biscuits, potatoes etc. quite good and timely.

    "Great Views and Comfy Room"
The room and bathroom were big. The bed was comfortable and warm. Nice blankets and pillows. I always bring my own pillow on vacation because I hate smushed hotel pillows but these pillows were great I could have left mine at home. Last but not least the view from our room was amazing! The only thing we didn't like was the restaurant, the food and service were good but it was so dark! I like to be able to see my food while I eat. Overall we had a great weekend and we would recommend it to our friends.

    "Nice motel off hwy......."
Staff were very good at customer service! That was the first thing I noticed, and part of what will bring me back. The room was just as it was photographed on their website. Clean, welcoming, great lighting. Even though it was right off the highway, I found it to be pretty good for noise. The breakfast they serve in the mornings was pretty good...... Biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sausage links, hash browns, hard boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt, cofee, juices, milk, muffins, bagels and cream cheese, bread for toast....... a good breakfast fare to get your day started.
