    Pocket Guide: United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers an enormous variety of things to do and see. Combining rail or bus passes with cheap hotel deals in the United Kingdom can save money. Hotels in the United Kingdom range from luxury chains to quaint historic properties and simple budget options, and a special discount may be available for traveling in the off-season.

Visitors to Scotland will want to explore the historic city of Edinburgh with its medieval Old Town and 18th-century New Town. To the north, the Scottish Highlands offer stunning scenery to visitors. Off the northern coast lie a number of remote islands notable for their stark beauty.

Lovers of nature won’t want to miss the largest national park in England, the Lake District. The southern part of England includes the wild moors and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall as well as the beaches of resort towns.

A cheap United Kingdom hotel deal will make it possible to stay longer in the capital city of London where visitors can see such iconic sights as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and Big Ben. Throughout the United Kingdom, public museums are free, and London's National Gallery and the British Museum are among those worth a visit.

Notable parts of Wales include the capital city of Cardiff, the well-preserved medieval town of Conwy, and Hay-on-Wye, which is famous for its dozens of bookstores and yearly literary festival. Snowdonia National Park is a beautiful and popular destination for outdoors enthusiasts. Ferries from both Wales and Scotland will take visitors across the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland has largely put the troubles behind it, and today, Belfast offers a number of tours that focus on the city’s turbulent history. The Titanic Experience, site of the luxury site's doomed launch, offers visitors a number of interactive experiences. North of Belfast, the Giant's Causeway looks like an alien landscape, and legend claims its unusual basalt columns were created by the Irish giant Finn MacCool.

United Kingdom hotel deals will stretch the travel dollars further, and some United Kingdom hotel packages may include perks such as restaurants or theater tickets. Much of the region enjoys a fairly mild climate year round, and traveling during the winter may mean lower prices in United Kingdom hotels. To find top savings and the best rates, search for rooms and book reservations as early as possible.

    "Exceptional customer service, fantastic facilities"
The hotel staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, everything extra we asked for for the room they delivered with no hesitation and extremely promptly, for example an audio cable to allow us to play music on their speakers, an ice bucket and glasses for our wine and some peanuts when we got hungry of an evening. All at no additional cost. The facilities were superb and cleanliness was excellent, nothing to fault about this hotel and would have loved to stay longer or return at a later date!

    "Really nice relaxing hotel"
Stayed at the Hilton for my wife's 40th. Great location in the centre of town. Staff excellent. Swimming pool is a good size and hardly used. The hotel has a really nice relaxed feel. Two pieces of advice: 1)keep an eye on the Expedia prices after booking. It dropped by £40 in a month. Claimed back the difference with Expedia best price guarantee. 2) it's possible to book in advance for the Cloud bar. There's no preferential treatment for hotel guests and it'll save you queuing for 40 mins. Oh, and buy your bubbly in the Sainsburys local up the road. Ice bucket and ice available in your room and significantly cheaper than the hotel! Would strongly recommend this hotel.
