Pros: It's location to where we were headed that weekend and the price. We appreciated the WiFi.
Cons: Remember to replenish anything that is used the night prior, if the people are staying more than one night as we did.
It was definitely a bare minimum type Marriott. We didn't get a our coffee packets nor a cup replacement for our second morning, but the room was clean. We did appreciate that. We would recommend this hotel for the price, mainly. There were not many amenities.

Clean and Comfy

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: It was clean and comfortable.
Cons: Prices at The Bistro. Maybe offer a small, complimentary breakfast with room.
Location: Right off freeway. Shopping nearby.
The staff at the hotel were all very courteous and helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and comfy. The pool/hot tub were very clean. Nice they offer adults only swim time between 10 and 11pm. Good location right off the freeway and close to shopping. Nice set-up in the lobby with The Bistro. My only complaint is the food is a bit pricey for what you get. It would be nice if they offered maybe a small complimentary breakfast in the AM for the price of the room. Overall all though, nice place to stay. Would definitely recommend to others.

Overnighter

Pros: The bed was very comfortable
Cons: Next time leave my sister in-law at home.
Location: We were about 10 minutes from Royal Oak and there are tons of things to do and eat downtown.
We were in town for just one night. The staff was friendly, hotel was clean and very nice looking. We did not use the pool on this stay but from what I could hear it did not sound like anyone was complaining about it.

Extra fees and no extras

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Size of rooms
Cons: No suprising fees. Some amenities like breakfast or at the least coffee
Location: Nothing
Picked the hotel because of location and medium price. When arrived told all Expedia guests also have to put down $50 in case we wanted something else. (Whatever that meant) Asked about features and told we had a room and that was it. No coffee, no breakfast, expensive "bistro" if you wanted a 10 to 15 dollar oatmeal and toast combo. Asked about nearby restaurants or places to go and was told if you wanted to travel over 5 miles there were a few restaurants "somewhere" Not a good experience.

Thank you for choosing the Troy Courytard for your recent visit to the Detroit area. I appreciate you taking the time to provide me with feedback on your stay. I apologize that you were not made aware of the requirement to provide either a cash or credit incidental deposit of $50 upon check in. This coveres any telephone, restraurant, bar or Market charges that you may choose to charge to your guest room. It is promptly refunded upon check out minus whatever expenses you may have had. We also have the "Go Board" located in our lobby that has a comprehensive listing of restaurants nearby complete with a map and printing capabilities. I apologize that you were not made aware and would be happy to personally show you how to use the touch screen should you return to the Troy Courtyard. I appreciate your business and hope that you will give us another try! Sincerely, Wendy Fresorger General Manager

I appreciate you taking the time to provide me with feedback on your recent visit to the Troy Courtyard. I apologize that the room type that you booked was not the room type that you were placed into upon arrival. We strive to provide all of our guests with the high level of service that has come to be expected from a Marriott hotel and in this case we fell short of your expectations. I am happy to hear that my associate did try to compensate you for not having your room type. I assure you I will use this a a training topic for my staff to ensure this remains an isolated incident. I hope you come back to visit us again on your next visit to Troy! Sincerely, Wendy Fresorger General Manager

Go somewhere else, anywhere else!

What a horrible hotel. First of all, the outside of the hotel is awful--dirty, worn, and very uninviting. The inside of the hotel has been updated, but the colors and furniture can't cover up the filth. Nothing seems very clean. I reserved our room on hotels.com and my reservation included breakfast. Unfortunately, the hotel staff didn't see it that way. We tried to have our included breakfast twice and were told that our reservation didn't include breakfast even though my reservation confirmation clearly showed it did. It's not that were really were amped up for a hotel breakfast, but we were taken aback by the staff's rudeness. Also, please note-the layout of the hotel is awful. There is one elevator on the back, right side of the hotel. Getting to your room is very inconvenient and be prepared to drag your luggage up some steps if you want to park anywhere near your room. All in all, there are so many other places to stay, do yourself a favor and pick somewhere else.
