took 1.5 hours to check in

Posted Aug 26, 2014
waited in line for an hour and a half to check in to find out we were put in "the quiet zone" which was never told to me beforehand! the bed was uncomfortable and our bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned, there was spilled make up on the floor and writing on the mirror. definitely not worth the $225 per night. will not go back!!!

Unprepared

Posted Aug 25, 2014
I arrived at 3pm to check-in. The line was over an hour long. They did not have rooms cleaned or ready. They said they were sold out the prior night and were not ready! I booked in May and most places were sold out due to Eminem concert. I don't know how this Downtown Detroit Hotel could have not known that they would need extra help this weekend, especially when their neighbors were just as busy and on top of it a Lions game the same night as concert! I needed extra pillows and a blanket for my pull out couch because my room (2 DOUBLES) wasn't available...and I never received them. I called front desk 2 times and they never showed...the first call was at 12am...they said they were in the wash. The free breakfast buffet we received due to no linens...was miserable. If I were to pay the $75 for 4 people on a normal day I would have flipped the cold runny powdered eggs off the table!

Dear C.B. Thank you for taking the time to reviewing your recent stay with us. I'm sorry that the check in time was longer than normal. We do keep extra pillows and blankets in the closets of rooms that feature a pull out bed and I'm sorry if you never received any. We make sure to keep enough linen to make sure we have enough during busy times. I hope you allow us another chance in the future to meet and exceed your expectations.

Busy weekend there

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The view, location and amenities were nice.
Our room was upgraded due to the wait at check in - waited almost 2 hours due to an event downtown, which was a benefit. At 3 in the morning an evacuation alarm went off that was a false alarm so my sleep was disturbed. No apology was given.

something in the system is not working

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: IT is so close from we have to go to.
Cons: Their computer system and the way some employees answer to people.
Location: It is in front of the river, it seems to be a safe location to go for a walking any time. The view of the lake from the room is so beautiful.
We have been in this hotel 2 times before this last week. We had have good experiences as the hotel is beautiful an its location is perfect for what we need. This time we arrived so tired and asked for our room, a nice girl gave us the keys of a room, we went up, open the room and the room were already occupied! The man inside was reading his newspaper (thank God he was not doing anything else) and he was angry, we were angry, because this is scary!. So we went down and explained everything. The manager was embarrassed and gave us tickets for two free drinks in the bar. Next day we went out very early and we came back at two pm to realized the room was still without the cleaning!. We went again down and they said sorry, again, and called this woman to make the room. Next day we received the bill under the door but we realized they charged us two dinner (expensive dinners) that belonged to another room! and also we already had paid here in Expedia for the room, and they had charged us again the 2 nights!. So we went again to the front desk, explained that in a good way but we said it was a little bit too much so much mistakes, but this time it was not the manager, so the girl said "everybody makes mistakes because we are human"... she didn't said sorry, (we even gave back the tickets for breakfast and for the bar as we were a little scared to have a bad experience eating when people feel guilty) She accepted it was no charge for us but something in their system is not working.

Big price poor quality and service

Posted Aug 19, 2014
This hotel was not a good value. For the price, I definitely expect more and I'm not usually one to complain. The furniture was filthy. The bathroom was tiny. Hotel staff was unfriendly and uninformed about their own services. The final straw was the location. This hotel is NOT walking distance to Comerica Park or Ford Field nor are their any restaurants within safe walking distance during the day or night. Had I known I would have paid more for a different hotel.

Way to go Crowne Plaza staff!

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The staff was genuinely friendly and concerned that we had a good stay.
Cons: Better signs directing us to the valet parking.
Location: We were there specifically to attend a concert at Ford Field and did not have time to explore or enjoy other amenities in the area.
Any minor inconveniences we experienced were more than made up for by the exceptionally pleasant and friendly staff. We booked two double beds but when we reached our room found we had received one king. I called and they immediately sent someone up with keys for our new room. We were very pleasantly surprised to find out they had upgraded us to a suite! The view of the Detroit River was fantastic. The room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Stayed 1 night to watch the tigers. The hotel staff are friendly and the streets feel safe outside the hotel during daytime. Nice hotel but it is dated. Carpets and furniture are worn but it is clean.
