Hawthorne Suites Southfield Michigan

Pros: Bed was comfortable & HVAC was easy to manage.
Cons: Stock the kitchen with dining supplies & the closets with hangers.
There are no elevators. All entrances go to outdoors & stairways are required beyond ground floor. In this extended stay venue, there were no glasses, plates, silver, etc in the kitchen. There were two large closets and only one hanger in each. Hardly enough capacity to hang a wardrobe for an extended stay. The complimentary breakfast selections were weak. Juice dispensers in breakfast were broken. Coffee was cold and bitter. Milk was in short supply and needed to be requested every morning. Parking was limited on Friday & Saturday night. Though the bed was comfortable and the HVAC better than many, never staying here again.

Extra fees upon stay

The hotel makes you put an extra $100 dollar cash deposit on top of having your credit card on file and paying upfront for your room, which was a real inconvenience seeing that I only carry plastic. Will not stay again

Very bad room

Room was not clean both closet doors were broken off the track no remote for tv no blankets for bed just sheets couch was dirty the head board of bed was very dirty with white stains on it just not a pleasant stay at all we slept with clothes on this hotel really needs to be upgraded and cleaned a lot better

no maintenance, lacking basic needs hotel?

Pros: Location
Cons: Fire the day staff, and replace with customer oriented staff. We reported items to day staff and there was no follow up. Nothing done.
Location: Centrally located to our work for that week.
No blankets on some beds, no cooking utensils, 1 burner worked on stove, no housekeeping, front door did not lock, someone entered out room everyday when we were gone, it was not housekeeping, no handle to adjust shower temperature we used our vise grips on valve, continental breakfast was a joke, juice machine broken according to staff it has been that way for months, breakfast staff rude and obnoxious, for any of the items missing in rooms ( I rented 3 suites for 5 of my employees and myself) we had to beg at that front desk to get cooking utensils, blankets, replacement towels etc.. The pricing was reasonable. Many of the night staff were very helpful and customer friendly. This was not true of day staff. The day staff was rude and made you feel as if they were doing you a favor by letting you stay at their hotel? I really expected more of a hotel? with the Wyndham name attached. We were at this hotel? for over a week.

Past its time

Pros: Location with respect to the city.
Cons: Needs cleaning, maintenance, overall poor shape. Almost uninhabitable.
Location: Colleges and city are nearby.
The hotel is a rundown version of a Residence Inn. The condition of the hotel is barely habitable. Many problems almost too many too mention. Detroit and the hotel seem to be in about the same condition.

Large room but everything seemed dated.

The hotel room was large but very used. Stayed on the 2nd floor and the floor had carpet but it was obvious that the floor was coming apart. The bedding seemed used and uncomfortable. The sofa looked dusty. The bathroom was dated and icky. The parking was completely atrocious because it was not plowed. Keep in mind that it snowed days ago. Cars were parked on a bed of snow. The room didn't provide a welcoming space for me to want to eat in it.

Our stay at the hotel

Our sevice was nice, however, I sugest you please inform your clients or agencies in advance that there will be a $100 cash deposit prior to check in. I had paid in full with my credit card, and do not travel with cash. Thank God my brother-in-law was there with the cash for the deposit. Also, there were absolutely NO blankets the night we stayed, 2 very small pillows on a King Size bed, no blankets for the sofa bed, etc., which was a very cold snowy night. There were no glasses, ice or ice trays, and no working batteries in the remote control. Other than that, the stay was okay. P.S. Please make sure you ask if they prefer a 1st or second floor. I have a disability and it was very painful climbing all the stairs there. Thank you, Dr. Deborah Price

Not the nicest of hotels...

The hotel room was in poor condition. The carpet was coming up from the floors and there was a piece of tile missing in the bathroom. There was also pieces of carpet actually missing from the floor. As the day grew to night, the hotel parking lot became a party zone with tons of cars and young kids coming into the parking lot and hanging out outside of their rooms. There was also a man begging for cigarettes every time I went to the front office.

Not a good hotel

The room wasn't clean, we were suppose to have non smoking room but the smoke was everywhere
