Excellent Customer Service!

This hotel was great for many reasons. We were warmly welcomed when we first arrived by a very friendly staff. I was impressed by the extravagant looking lobby that was very clean and open. My husband and I went up to our room, which was nice, but smelled like smoke.. Knowing that this hotel was 100% smoke free, I figured someone had just decided to not follow the rules. We unpacked and left for our planned excursion, leaving the air on hoping it would ventilate the room. When we got back, the room still smelled pretty bad. I was trying to decide if we should talk to the staff and see if we could get another room or if I could deal with it. (I hate being a complainer) We ended up talking to them. The two ladies at the front desk were very apologetic, and one started looking for another room. They were very booked due to the game that weekend and she was clearly torn on where to put us. The other lady stepped in and started working the computer quickly. They said don't worry, we will take care of you. We found out that they upgraded us to a suite! When we went up, the room was awesome! Very clean and fresh, nice set up, and really comfortable. We appreciated them going above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. They know what its all about. You can't beat a clean, service oriented hotel that is so close to many things in the surrounding area.

Our stay at the Garden Inn Hilton in Detroit

Pros: I liked the room and combined restaurant, bar, and lobby arrangement.
Cons: Everything was perfect. I do not have any recommended changes.
Location: We were visiting Detroit for the Detroit Jazz Festival. We also had an opportunity to visit friends and relatives in Detroit and Ann Arbor.
We had a wonderful stay at the Garden Inn Hilton in Detroit. The room was excellent including a very nice bathroom. The service was excellent as far as our room and all the staff that we encountered. The complimentary full service breakfast was really a wonderful feature of 5 days that we stayed at the hotel. The price was also very affordable. The free parking was also a plus.
