Very nice downtown hotel - close to everything

Posted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: + Free Breakfast + Upstairs pool & washing machines/dryers + Nice big fridge + Good cable package (HBO / ESPN / AMC) + Staff were very nice
Cons: I felt that sometimes room service didn't start until quite late in the day - some days I didn't get room service.
Location: There are several bus stations just outside the hotel, as well as several nice places to eat (not fine dining, but great nonetheless).
I arrived in the afternoon, and was very pleasantly greeted by the woman at the front desk. She even helped me with getting a new wi-fi password after the one she'd given me expired. The room was a great size (was a little miffed that I didn't get a single bed-room; was only able to get a room with 2 queens, but oh well), and had everything I could ask for. The free breakfast in the morning was very helpful (probably more my problem that I wasn't able to get to it some mornings because it was too early but whatever).

Close to the Joe but way off in quality

Posted Oct 14, 2014
This hotel is close to Joe Louis Arena and has a pretty good bar attached. But that's the end of the good points. The room was small, cramped and in definite need of an update. The bathroom was especially lacking (no fan, mold on ceiling, shower head needed repair, etc...). Ovreally we were less than impressed and we basically just needed a place shower and sleep. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for the Crowne Plaza.

Great location, great staff and services.

Perfect place to stay to see the Red Wings play. Shuttle took us to the game and back. But it's the great staff that definitely make this a place to come back to.

The hotel was clean, updated, and the staff were very helpful. It was a great place to stay. Within walking distance to Ford Field. Would definitely stay there again.

No parking for valet service

Posted Sep 24, 2014
No parking for valet service need to park in the middle of the road and jump out with all of your things if you can flag down a valet servicemen. The hotel states they are not responsible nor interested in the valet service even though it is your only option. The hotel did not answer their main phone line for 15 minutes when I tried to find out how to find the valet service.

Not a great stay

Posted Sep 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
I have stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels before but never had a bad experience like this. Walked into a room with blasting AC to 60 degrees. Took a while to heat the room up and by then my body was cold. DIdn't help that under the blankets it was freezing. I ended up having to turn the heat on to 72 and sleep with socks. Got up and went to workout. It took 3 tries for me to get into the fitness center with my key after going up and down the elevator to get my key 'fixed'. Back to my room to get ready for the day - step in the shower and it literally took about 8 minutes for the water to heat up. The price wasnt that much cheaper than other hotels in the area. It was definitely not worth it. Also, reviews I had read said parking was included in the rate but that was not the case. Definitely staying at a different hotel next time I am in the area.
