Can't beat the price

I had an overnight layover at the airport and chose this place because of the low price. While its no 5 star hotel, the room was quite good for the price. The front desk was friendly (although I suggest not counting on them for your wakeup call), there is a very basic continental breakfast, and best of all, there is a free 24 hour (I might be wrong here) shuttle to and from the airport. A little note about the shuttle: unlike the bigger hotels, HJ's shuttle is shared with another hotel and does not run very regularly. Write down the hotel's number before you travel and give them a call when you arrive to ask them to send the shuttle over. Can't go wrong for 50 dollars a night.

Only 3rd floor is modern - choose that floor

Pros: The 3rd floor rooms were modern/remodeled, and it was right next to the airport. It was also a great bargain.
Cons: Refurbish and remodel the bottom 2 floors.
Location: It's an airport hotel, literally outside the entrance of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. There is a Bob Evans restaurant next door.
We first purchased a non-smoking 2nd floor room, but it smelled a bit of smoke and the air conditioner didn't work well. The room was generally outdated, but was reasonably clean. Still, due to the smoky smell and air conditioner functionality, we asked to be transferred to one of the more modern rooms on the 3rd floor. The front desk staff did this without charge or hesitation (which was nice), and the second room looked much nicer, had a functional air conditioner, and had other amenities, like a fridge microwave, and a higher-quality TV.

Cons: The air vents and carpet corners could use some cleaning
Its ok for a quick cheap weekend stay, that's it. Not very clean but staff is friendly. Still has CRT TVs and cable does not have the channels the guide next to the TV indicates.

Pros: Good value for the money, especially if you get the advance purchase rate
Cons: In-room Wi-Fi seemed slow, Might have been caused by heavy traffic on the airline websites I was visiting. (Needed to rebook due to Hurricane Arthur)
Location: Easy access to DTW
This hotel is a good choice if you are arriving late into DTW or departing early. I have stayed there on several trips over the years. I stayed one night after my flight arrived into DTW after midnight on June 19, and again on July 3 before a 7:45 a.m. flight. The airport night shuttle runs 24 hours / day, and pickup was quick. The free breakfast is OK- a couple choices of cold cereal, make-your-own waffle, bagels and toast, individual servings of instant oatmeal, orange juice and apple juice. No eggs or yogurt. Breakfast starts at 5:00 a.m., which means you can have some before an early flight. Morning shuttles run every half hour. The lobby has been recently renovated.

Pros: friendly and accommodating staff, Good park and fly location.
Cons: little more or brighter lights in the rooms.
Location: Close to restaurants, shopping and airport.
under renovations some inconveniences, bathroom lights would sometimes not work. some pillows were uncomfortable. Staff was ready and willing to help out in any way possible.

Pros: convenience to our destination.
Cons: alternative access during construction
Location: airport shuttle - Marriott called and ended up taking me to hOjO. biGbOY rESTAURNT close (though a walk outside, expensive.
Elderly women with luggage had to walk up to second floor s elevator was closed off.

Parking at hotel costs extra

Was really not impressed that once we got there we had to pay and extra $35 dollars to park the car there and was under the assumption it was included. Room was okay but not worth the cost of the room plus parking. The guy at the desk wasn't very friendly either.
