Pros: Being on the river walk would be nice in warm weather. Good view of Belle Isle and Canada, which can be seen from end rooms too--not just River side.
Cons: Continental breakfast is a joke; general maintenance is lacking
Location: We walked back from Renaissance Center (closest People Mover stop) after a show at Joe Louis--took about twenty minutes & tested the nerves...
Big rooms; pics looked nice; a little outdated; free parking (get a pass for your window), but not secured in any way though there is evidence of at least a gate at one point

Pros: Location
Cons: Room updates
I've stayed at the facility many times. Even with change of ownership, the current owner continues to provide a comfortable experience.

LIONS GAME OVERNIGHT

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: LOCATION ON THE WATER IS SWEET. WALKING DISTANCE TO DOWNTOWN ALONG THE WATER. WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK IN SUMMER. STAFF WAS REALLY NICE. BEDS COMF
Cons: SURROUNDING AREA NEEDS WORK. SURROUDING STREETS IN HORRIBLE CONDITION.
Location: DONWTOWN DETROIT. WHAT'S NOT TO DO
THE HOTEL STAFF WAS VERY COURTEOUS . THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN BUT SOME UPDATES ARE NEEDED. THE GOOD NEWS IS UPDATES ARE ON THE WAY WITH NEW OWNERSHIP WILLING TO SPEND THE MONEY TO MAKE THE UPGRADES. THIS PLACE IS A BARGAIN FOR A STAY IN DOWNTOWN FOR NOW. YOU CAN BET PRICING WILL BE GOING UP NEXT YEAR AS MORE OF THE PLACE IS REFURBISHED AND THE OUTDOOR POOL IS RECONDITIONED. GREAT ATMOSHPHERE WITH 1920'S - 30'S APPEAL. SURROUNDING AREA CONTINUES TO IMPROVE ALSO.

Historic looking -

Service great. Room clean and comfortable. Could have had better lighting (with all the lights on - still pretty dimly lit). Handle on bathroom door very loose. Overall though a lovely hotel.

Highs and Lows

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: The location on the River.
Cons: No pool. No continental breakfast. The carpets need serious attention and the furniture is scratched and gouged. All of the brass plates need polish.
I had to change rooms three times. The first time I had views of two dirt piles outside the window. The second time the room had not been cleaned. The third time was the best room. There were candy wrappers all over the stairs leading to the third floor and I watched a tootsie roll remain on the carpet for four days. I laughed every time I went down the stairs but really it isn't funny. I did meet the owner while staying there and he seemed to be a little uppity but all in all, I will stay there my next trip. I enjoyed walking along the river at night.

Good value but not run well.

Barely worth the price

Great location on the lake. I was in room 122, the very first room on the floor, so the most used room. Overall I would stay again however there were stains in several areas on the lower walls. (Which was gross). No alarm clock, which was a first for me. Otherwise it was ok. Again, overall I would stay again.

Very nice hotel for the money

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Although a short stay, hotel staff was super friendly and our room was perfect for what we needed it for. If I wasn't in town just for the Bills game I wouldn't have mind staying there for a week or so. Plus being on the river was a nice view. Overall it was enjoyable.

Good hotel with a very good riverfront location

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: The location was great.
Cons: See above.
Location: Riverfront but somewhat isolated. Close to downtown Detroit adjacent to a convenience plaza, bars and a well known local restaurant: the Rattlesnake.
It was one of the coldest days of the year and the room was drafty. So despite how much I turn up the heat there was always a cool draft. There seem no to get to the registration desk without negotiating steps. There was no vending machine and services were limited after 1:00AM. Otherwise My stay was good.
