Townsend Hotel ReviewPosted Feb 10, 2014
There was a water line break near the hotel. We had to change room Saturday night so we would have water Sunday morning. The scale in the bathroom did not work and the room ran out of kleenex. Otherwise our stay was OK.

Always a wonderful stay at the TownsendPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: Everything, especially the service. The rooms are very comfortable, the bed is a dream and the bathrooms are well appointed.
Location: The location is perfect not only for the greater Detroit area, but also for a stroll down the street to fabulous restaurants and shops.
We stayed at the Townsend for one night on Saturday and had a wonderful time. Prior to arriving, I had requested a quiet room and they put us on the top floor in a really lovely suite. Also, in my pre-arrival correspondence I mentioned just in passing that we're looking forward to celebrating our anniversary there again. To our surprise, there was champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries delivered to our room at the same time we checked in. This was a really thoughtful surprise. It's not even like we're regular customers, we go there only once a year. But they truly know how to make their guests feel special, and that makes all the difference!

Excellent Location; nothing special!Posted Aug 26, 2013
Pros: The staff
Cons: Close this hotel down and do a complete renovation and bring it up to date!!
Location: Tons of restaurants, bars and shopping all within walking distance of the hotel. Very nice/safe upscale area.
If this hotel was not located in Birmingham, MI they would not be able get $$$$ for those rooms. I travel alot and have stayed in the best of the best and this certainly is not it. This hotel/room is no better than staying at a Westin or Marriott. What hotel refers to themselves as a **** and has a shower/tub combination with shower curtains and paint that is peeling??? Do yourself a favorite and go to the Royal Park in Rochester Hills - A real 4-5 star hotel!

Too expensive for what it isPosted Jul 27, 2013
Cons: Too expensive for what it is
Location: It is at the center of where people are social in the area
This hotel bugs me. It is the only nice hotel for miles around, and at the center of where people are social in the area. But it just spent more there for a room than the two prior nights at the Shangrla La in Santa Monica and the Palomar in Chicago. And they charge extra for everything. I go there begrudgingly.
