Totally disappointed

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: not much
Cons: Service, cleanliness and the quality of the sofabed.
Three of us had planned a girls weekend of shopping and dining in Detroit. The reviews on the website indicated the Westin was a great hotel to stay in. We booked a executive king suite with a king bed and a sofa bed - the largest room we could get to accommodate the 3 of us. When we arrived the pull out sofa was not made up nor was there any bedding in the room for us to make it up , and there was only one set of towels in the bathroom. We called reception and they made arrangements for the housekeeping staff to rectify this - which they did. When we got ready for bed we found the pillows to be dirty, and the sofa bed was like a wire rack. There was no padding whatsoever. After tossing and turning all night, (it was so squeaky it kept everyone else awake) we decided that we would not stay here another night. Unfortunately, we were unable to find another hotel that could accommodate the three of us - so we left.

An oasis of luxury among office buildings

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Location: Detroit was only a 20 minute drive. Royal Oak is close, and so is Great Lakes Crossing
The hotel was a wonderful place to stay for a weekend with my boyfriend. It is in a somewhat surprising location surrounded by several office buildings. Though unless you're looking for a picturesque view, the location is perfectly fine. The man at the front desk had fun ideas of things to do in and around Detroit that I had not thought of even being from the area. The hotel bar was a great place to relax, and they made excellent drinks particularly the bloody mary's.

Nice property at Southfield Westin

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: great rates, well maintained
Cons: elevators were kind of slow
Location: this was a business trip, so I did not spend time on recreational activities.
This was a decent property with exceptional staff. They went out of their way to help me. Nikitta accommodated a special room request and Michael at the Bell desk assisted with some local travel arrangements. The fitness center was well equipped for what I needed although a little warm. The restaurant has a fantastic M-F lunch buffet but the menu was otherwise very limited and a little pricey for the location. The property was clean and well maintained although the door jam around my entrance door was covered a bit with the remains of a plaster-type substance from some kind of repair. The HVAC unit was a little loud but worked well and for me, was great "white noise". I would recommend this property if I was in the area again.

Not worth the money

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Executive king looks like any other ordinary carp room with a bigger bed. We couldn't watch tv due to a problem with the cable. Maintenence came up to fix it, said they'd be right back and we didn't see them for the rest of the night. So we had no tv. You have to pay for Wi-Fi. And there's no snack vending machines (all I could find is pop) and the cafe and restaurants close at a certain time. So if you're hungry later At night you have to leave which is difficult since the roads in Detroit look like a human's circulatory system. It was a very clean room and the staff was extremely friendly but they obviously had a poor work ethic. Definitely not worth the $140 I spent on this room. I can get a suit at Blue Chip Casino for less than that and have a hot tub in the room....

Our location is enjoyed by our guests because it allows them to have a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, but an easy commute to the surrounding areas and Detroit itself. It is unfortunate that you contented with inconveniences while here and we do hope to have another opportunity in the future to re-gain your trust. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Alright

Took forever to check in even with an already paid reservation. Was not informed of no internet. Who the hell does not have free wifi? Really! A $30 plate of scrambled eggs and pancakes? Smoke smell in hallway and some paint chipping in bathroom

The experience that you have described is not at all what we want our valued guests to have; please accept our sincerest apologies. We do understand that fees for certain services can be an inconvenience however we feel it is better not to pass the cost of a service on to every guest and charge only those that use them. WiFi access is complimentary in every public area of our hotel. It is regrettable that your stay was not more enjoyable and we hope to have a future opportunity to fully impress you with everything we have to offer. Until then, stay well.
