Great location, dining options and staff! I stay in Downtown Detroit about 6-8 times per year and this is one of my go-to hotels.

Nice Hotel in Downtown Detroit

Posted Feb 11, 2015
Pros: The location was excellent.
Cons: The service.
Location: Campus Martius (Winterfest). Roast. Casinos, Staduims
We had a pleasant weekend stay at the Book Cadillac hotel. The hotel was comfortable, and the staff was generally helpful. Reception was quick, friendly and efficient. We had a couple of issues. The ice machine was broken during the weekend stay. Each time we called, we were told that someone would be up to fix it, and we had to ask them for ice. While it wasn't a big deal, it was annoying. Additionally, the valet service at the hotel is, well, bad. When you call from your room, you are sent to voicemail. When you get down there, or you return to the hotel, you will see several people standing around, but no one can take your car. Or, even worse, you sit outside waiting for someone to get the car, but there isn't anyone anywhere. We were always greeted by the doorman, who would try to call someone, but the valet was usually the bottleneck. We had a very comfortable room, and enjoyed the spa services; which were excellent. The heavenly bed was nice, and the view of the city was lovely. It was an easy walk to Campus Martius park for the Winterfest. With the restaurants and shopping, it was a very pleasant stay in downtown. We enjoyed our stay, but it just seems like those small details keep the hotel from really shining as it should.

Nice rooms Nice Staff Bad Neighbors

My wife and I were looking for some rest and relaxation away from our two kids under the age of 3. It was a weekend to celebrate our 7 yr anniversary. We had a great dinner at the restaurant inside the hotel called Roast. Unfortunately our nights sleep was not going to happen with extremely rude guests located next to us. They were screaming and banging doors all night. When we finally called down the front desk said "they are still being loud"? So we weren't the first to complain. It wasn't until 4am that they finally got quiet and by then it was too late to feel rested. In fact we were more tired than when we arrived. $30 parking was all they offered in return of the bad night we just had.
