accomodating staffPosted Jul 31, 2014
Cons: room a bit stuffy, circulation issue. We did have a window with screen that opened so this made up for it

Clean and FriendlyPosted Jul 29, 2014
Location: Highly recommend checking out Brew Ales and Eats if you like microbrews. They have a great selection, allow samples and the bartenders are helpful.
I was pleasantly surprised when checking out our room. You can tell from the building style is this not a new hotel, but it has been well maintained. The room was clean and comfortable, and did not look or feel old. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Awesome!!Posted Jun 15, 2014
It was a very nice hotel and the lower level rooms you walked right outside instead of to a hallway it was very personal and quite! They had a really good breakfast and I would go back in a heart beat!

Located close to downtown and off of Hwy 10Posted Aug 25, 2013
Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: The pool hours, general age, and the quantity and quality of the little touches (in-room shampoo, quality of buffet food).
Location: Downtown Detroit Lakes, the park with the pavillion, and the lake, of course, were all nearby.
It's more of a motel with buildings that are physically separate. The crowning jewel of the property is a small waterpark (emphasis on small). While we were there, the water slide was only open once. On a Saturday, we called down to the office and learned that they only would open the slide for short periods of time in the afternoon and evening, but not in the late morning when our kids were able to swim. Half of the time we needed a pool towel, we had to call the office to have more towels delivered to the pool. Overall, it was a decent hotel/motel, but it felt dated in facilities, the waterpark was underwhelming (but this could be easily addressed by management addressing their staffing), and given the cost to stay there, it wasn't a good deal. I should mention that the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful.

one overnightPosted Aug 7, 2013
Pros: Staff and cleanliness
Our son was taking his drivers test in Detroit Lakes, and we needed a hotel to stay overnight. We wanted something fun for our youngest son...and the water slide and pool at the BW Holland House fit the bill...then it exceeded all expectations with a clean hotel and marvelous staff. Would stay here again.
