“The most superb hotel we've ever stayed in”

If you really want a taste of the high life then Bovey Castle is the place to go. Less of a hotel and more of a large country house where you are an honoured guest, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were freindly, welcoming and never snooty. The hotel is beautifully appointed and set in a stunning location and both food and drink were superb, no metter whether the Bistro bar or Edwardian restaurant were chosen. The main hotel bar is the perfect way to round off the day and the hotel's cocktails were decidedly more-ish! The only tiny complaint I have here is that the hotel does request "no denim to be worn in the Edwardian restaurant in the evening" but made no attempt to enforce this - scruffy jeans seemed not uncommon. Leisure-wise the pool was lovely and it was nice to have child-free swimming times in the morning and evening when it was more peaceful. There are plenty of activities that the hotel can arrange and my wife and I can highly recommend the quad biking! The guided walk was also very pleasant and the hotel gives a booklet on arrival detailing six local walks which can be ambled at your own pace (a couple take you past the Ring of Bells pub in North Bovey whish is well worth stopping at for an ale or three!). All in all, a perfect weekend - it isn't cheap but it's worth every penny. We will return!

“Best Castle in England”

An amazing hotel! The experience was just what my husband I needed our weekend away. The activities are unlimited and even in the mornings if we didn't want to pay extra for an activity we were able to see falconry or go head to the hatchery. Just wandering around the hotel with all of its nooks and crannies made for a romantic and fun adventure. I would highly recommend this hotel. Although this was a special occasion and not cheap it was well worth its price. The drive to Bovey is not an easy one for the last 10 minutes however so you may want to add in a little extra time to get there.
