Pros: The welcome and the attention to our comfort
Location: Beautiful country location which we could not enjoy as we were travelling on.
A delightful stay at a beautiful old country house hotel. Good food and excellent service.

Picture perfect retreat off the beaten trackPosted Sep 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
This beautiful manor house dates back to the 1600's. the gardens are lovely for relaxing with a drink and good book. Inside you will find two delightful sitting rooms, a breakfast room, and a dining room. A traditional English breakfast is served every morning, and dinner in the evening. Food is delicious and very fresh. After dinner enjoy games, e,g. Scrabble or trivial pursuit and a nightcap in the sitting room. It is comfortable and homelike. The bedrooms are large, with pretty views of the gardens, and nicely furnished.. The hotel is located in Devon and is ideally located for walking tours and hikes on the moors. Nearby villages offer great pubs and limited shopping. Scenery is unbeatable. Sheep, ponies, and cows share the country roads with walkers, bikers, and autos. If you like to travel off the beaten track --not very many American tourists here and are looking for a true relaxing retreat, this is for you.

Great hotel. Dogs loved it tooPosted Jun 3, 2013
Pros: Peaceful and homely
Location: Stunning location, beautiful grounds
Grounds, staff and food were wonderful. Would benefit from a little updating here and there, but this did not detract from our stay. Our two scruffy Jack Russells loved it and were totally chilled having done many laps tearing round the paddock. Perfect overnight break after a long drive.

Excellent hotel for a relaxing short breakPosted Apr 4, 2013
Pros: Excellent food.
Cons: Couldn't open windows in bedroom.
Location: Off a main road but very quiet. Close to Okehampton and good centre for day trips to Plymouth, Tintagel, Arlington Court, Lanheydroc, Rosemoor etc.
Collaven Manor Hotel is a gem. Our welcome was warm and friendly, the ambiance is very relaxing, the food is excellent. It is within easy reach of Okehampton and a excellent centre for a short break. We couldn't open the windows but didn't need to as the weather was very cold.
