Prime location close to the Hoe

Posted Dec 13, 2014
Pros: Comfy beds, nice rooms, and good service. Panoramic views of Plymouth from the restaurant.
Cons: Decor looking very tired
Location: Centrally located for the Hoe and within walking distance to the shops, cafes and bars.
Stayed at Holiday Inns before - they suit our family needs. The rooms are a decent size, this hotel has a good central location for the Hoe and not far from the town centre and marina. The staff are friendly and helpful. Good choice of food at breakfast. Parking on site

Excellent hotel in city centre.

Posted Oct 30, 2014
Excellent, spacious comfortable rooms. We had 4 in our room and it still felt big. Breakfast was lovely, well organised with views over the hoe, docks and the whole city centre. We used the gym and swimming pool which was all new and clean. Staff were all polite, friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic, 2 mins to the hoe, and nice walk to the barbican, in the other direction 2 min walk to the shopping centre. Thoroughly recommended.

Ideal for family break

Posted Oct 28, 2014
Yes, the hotel is beginning to show it's age...but we found the room to be clean, and the facilities & location were simply perfect for our short family break. Friendly staff, and a superb breakfast were icing on the cake. Would we we return? Absolutely :)

Good location but looking a little tired

Posted Oct 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
The location of the hotel is hard to beat being adjacent to Plymouth Hoe and the view especially from the Penthouse restaurant is spectacular. The hotel does however feel a little tired and the car park is very tight and hard to manoeuvre in although the outdoor car park across the road is fine.

Family stay

Posted Oct 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel room was tired, sheets didnt fit beds and i had to remake them. Carpet was stained. Considering the location the only view we had from the third floor was a wall and some ducting. A conference was taking place, so at breakfast time it was chaos in the restaurant.

Disappointing

Posted Oct 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel has gone downhill in two years. Very tatty. 'Clean' bedding was stained. Pillows supposed to be different but all like lumps of wood. Duvet was like an old blanket so asked for another. That was just as bad. Dirty towels were re-hung! Food was awful. Slamon was a lump and boiled potatoes were JUST THAT. Sort of meal you might grab from supermarket any week-night. Crumble was just splattered onto plate. I don;t think they have heard of HEAT either. Last time we were there, there were nice touches like bowls of fruit on the tables at the lifts, nice flower arrangements - the one at the entrance looked like something grabbed form the filling station. Extremely dissappointed and definately NOT what I'd expect from a Holiday Inn Hotel.

Holiday Inn

Pros: Location. I also got a good discount of this website
Cons: since this hotel advertises it panoramic views, the windows ought to be cleaned occasionally!
Location: Great for all Plymouth's attractions.
Great location with views in all directions, though the windows were so filthy we couldn't take proper advantage of this. There was also a lot of noise on the saturday night, and the tub was small so it was not possible to have a proper bath, though the shower was fine. To be honest, I am pretty surprised this hotel is rated at 4*, but if you can get a decent discount (I did), then it's worth staying here for the excellence of the location and the views (if you can make them out).
