Very elaborate decor for a small guest house but obviously a lot of time, money and love went into the conversion of this property into a hidden gem. Only downside was the lack of parking. Exeter is a nightmare at the best of times but with a hotel so near to the centre this was the worse aspect of our stay. Breakfasts were lovely especially the home made fruit salads. Better than many 4 star hotels. Staff friendly and obliging.

DisappointingPosted Jan 19, 2012
Group of us stayed at this hotel. No hot water in one of the rooms, no toilet in one of the rooms which meant that some of the group had to relocate to another hotel.

Nice B&B run by 2 very friendly guysPosted Feb 11, 2011 on Hotels.com
These guys are very friendly and make everything easy to understand. The shared bathroom on the top floor suited me just fine. A good breakfast in the morning. Could come and go as I pleased.

This elegantly furnished guest house was very clean and comfortable. It was well located near to the city centre but in a quiet road. We were given a parking permit that was free. We stayed in the Queen Anne Suite with the 4-poster bed which was very comfotable. I was impressed with the little extra touches such as the complimentary bottle of water and the shower cap, soaps and gels. The breakfast was nicely presented and ample. I would definitely recommend Melbury Guest House and hope that we will make a return visit. It would be nice to do this in the summer as they have a conservatory, patio and, I understand, a hot tub or though we did not venture out during our trip as it was too cold!
