Comfortable B&B with pleasant hosts Erica and Paul. Lovely old building in good location recently renovated, car space and walking distance to city centre and the Barbican, the Hoe and seafront. We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel to others.

handy walk to downtown; very helpful staffPosted Sep 26, 2013
Location: Plymouth has an excellent world class aquarium which will keep adults and children amused for a full half day.
We were only staying for one night as we passed through to our ultimate location. This hotel provided all that we needed or expected. An excellent breakfast choice. Staff helped us with string luggage. Location is fine for a pleasant walk to downtown.

Not too bad for a nightPosted Aug 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
We arrived late and left early. Got a nice room high up and settled in. A few things that we had issues with, the room was very hot, no a/c, no fan, no way to cool it off except to open the window but the window is secured from opening more than about 8 inches and the top part of the window wouldn't pull down, the shower's water pressure was severely restricted, it was like showering under a faucet, the toilet didn't flush without having to remove the top of the tank and pump the lever up and down. Out side of those things the room wasn't bad, the location was close enough to the harbor and right by the park which was nice. Just wish the other things hadn't made it hard to really enjoy the room.

Since our son is a University student, I have stayed in Plymouth a number of times at different Bed and Breakfasts. For some reason, the weekend I chose to stay this time was very busy in Plymouth and all the previous favourites were booked up. Thankfully, I was able to get a room at Number One. It is in a great location very near The Hoe and has the added bonus of having reasonably sized car park, which was much appreciated. The Number One is a bit larger than the other B&B’s I have stayed at. I was on the top floor and noticed the room numbers went up to 22, although I am not sure if they started at 1. But this didn’t matter. The place was spotless. The room was quite plain in its decoration, but I would rather have that than some dusty old furniture. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom of quite a reasonable size. Cooked to order breakfast was delicious and served very the very competent and friendly staff. You could help yourself to as much coffee, toast, juice, etc that you wanted. I was quite surprised at the small size of the breakfast room considering the number of bedrooms, but it worked just fine. In fact I shared a table with a lovely American couple who had been travelling around Europe for four weeks. As a former U.S. resident, it was nice to talk about times in the States. I would not hesitate to recommend the Number One it to my friends and other travellers. Thank you to the owners and staff for a great stay.
