“Amazing Views!!!”
Lovely stay, fabulous views, excellant value for money. Would stay again. It is a very old hotel, I used to visit the hotel for meals with my grandparents over 30 years ago, however for the age of the hotel it has been well refurbished. People who have very high standards will probably and do give poor reviews which did I have to say put me off booking, but am I glad I did. You must get a sea view room the veiws are absolutely amazing!! I'm booking again next time without a doubt.
“No Complaints, will return.”
Although I stayed only one night, do not judge this book by its cover. Its exterior appearance could do with a makeover but once inside it is a lovely hotel with outstanding views of the Hoe and good service provided. All the staff very helpful and friendly. I shall definitely return. Fully recommended.
“Excellent location and great value for money”
This hotel is in a superb location on Plymouth Hoe, easy walking distance from the city centre and with ample free parking. Our room was on the 6th floor (there is a lift!) and was a good size, clean and comfortable with the most stunning views of the sea. The hotel looked a little tired and shabby from the outside and in the common areas but was excellent value for money.
“Great value for money and close to everything”
For the price... this place was amazing... super cheap. Great views of the ocean too... I went on a horrible day but I can imagine how beautiful it would be on a nice summers day.
“holiday”
Great hotel. Looks very tired and dated from the exterior as it's a typical 1960s towerblock constructed from dull grey concrete slabs, but inside it's very spacious and fairly comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable and has all the mod cons such as WiFi, Bath and shower and fairly comfortable queen size bed. Coastal view from room very impressive even on a dull grey day and great for watching the boats
“Young couple in double room”
Hotel looked poor from outside, but this was deceptive - our room was very good indeed. Very spacious (a double). We had a superb view of the coast from the 7th floor that was fantastic Didn't really use the facilities other than our room so can't comment on them or the staff really. Only slight areas of complaint was that the walls seemed thin - although could have been some excessively loud people arguing next door. In addition I'm not sure the lining of the windows was the best as the wind was whistling in them at night
“Great Value”
Great upkeep on the rooms. They have been upgraded and are clean and comfortable. Great views as well. Common areas and exterior of the building need upgrades. Very good value for money.
“good quality hotel”
we had a wonderful stay in plymouth hotel was very central clean &tidy & staff very friendly only critisism would be that furniture could use some updating very tired looking
“Worth staying for the views”
Stayed here for 4 nights in June 2011. Hotel location is excellent for Hoe and seafront. Views from bedrooms overlooking Plymouth sound are first class. Room clean furniture looks worn and needs replacing. Bathroom very clean, good pressure on the shower. No real contact with staff apart from receptionist who were efficient and pleasant. No wifi in rooms, computer available in lobby at £5 per hour - out of date attitude should be free as in many hotels and B & Bs both in UK and continent. Free parking very useful if not essential if staying for any length of time. Dined here on first night - average pub type food - well cooked but there are many other places to eat nearby. Close to the ferry terminal and city centre is within walking distance.
“Good location for seafront and views but does have problems”
Wonderful views but in a hilly area and soundproofing poor between rooms. Excellent shower and room kept very clean, Parking free and reception helpful and corrected a problem with the tv immediately.Hotel a bit shabby. Ten minute walk to town centre and there is a good area along the coastline to walk to the Barbican which is flat ground.
