“Karaoke nightmare”

We had booked what we thought was going to be a quiet country pub. The location was ideal, close to Clovelly which we planned to visit. When we arrived on the Saturday afternoon we were quite happy with the size and presentation of our room. It appeared to have all that we needed for our one night stay. When we arrived the landlord had advised us that he had a skittles do on that night so if we wanted to eat in the pub to do so early. That was ok as we had planned to eat elsewhere. We went out for the rest of the afternoon and early evening. When we returned the lounge bar was full of the skittles crowd so we went into the public bar for a drink. We had been up since 5.30 that morning so after a quick drink we showered and had an early night. There was some noise from the skittles crowd but nothing too bad. The main anoyance was the fact that the smoking shelter was under our window and there was a constant stream of drinkers and smokers in and out. We thought this would ease of after around 11.00pm. It didnt! The straw that broke the camel's back was the karaoke. This STARTED at around 11.30 and was loud enough to stop us getting any sleep. At around 12.30 we decided we had had enough so got dressed and left to book into a Premier Inn where we enjoyed a nice peaceful sleep. We left the Anchor at around 12.45-12.50 and the music was still pumping good and loud.
