Poor locationPosted Sep 17, 2013
Room was clean, but with no wardrobe, nowhere to put clothes, no hand basin, shared toilet and shower not value for money. Local pub with drinking games music and TV all hours, would not recomend this and would not consider again.

A very enjoyable stay.Posted Aug 6, 2013
My wife and I paid for a room to stay in one night for our first anniversary. The staff were very kind and helpful and could not do enough for us. There were plenty of toiletries available for us to use and the room had practically everything we needed. I would point out though that this is *NOT* a hotel. Our room was one of three (I think) located above a pub. Whereas my wife and I were lucky (we were there to celebrate) it's worth saying that being a pub there was a fair amount of noise up to closing time. If you're looking for somewhere quiet to stay, this isn't it. The parking was adequate for us. We were lucky enough to have a parking space immediately outside the building but I could see that had the nearby pubs / shops been busier, we might have had problems. If you're lucky enough to know the area (I was born and grew up in Plymouth) you might have some luck but as it was, we didn't need it. There are frequent and regular buses to and from the city centre, stopping literally a couple of minutes from the pub. Very helpful for us as the walk would have taken us about half an hour. it's also worth saying that our room did not have its own toilet / shower. There was a toilet and a separate shower across the hall from our room but these were communal. Not the biggest problem in the world but again, worth mentioning. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

The room was quite nice and cleen, we didn't look for anything fancy as we needed a room for one night. But the customer service was just terrible!!! The man we tried to talk to about our booking just ignored us totaly and walked away. We were left at the bar without any answers. At the end all was sorted, but they really need to change the attitude towards their customers.

Great for blokes working away from homePosted Aug 17, 2012
Pros: THe People
Cons: Shared Bathroom
Location: Great location
Clean basic accomodation, but would have preferred our own bathroom. Very good breakfast, large bedroom with big opening windows, overlooking a nice square, plenty of car parking spaces available. The landlady and staff very pleasant and helpful. Good access to public transport, frequent buses into plymouth. The hotel is a little bit tired, but full of character.

The perfect Hotel for working folk!Posted Jul 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
Three of us working on a job near Plymouth stayed there for four nights last week. It's a proper British pub, with some wonderfully colourful characters, right next to Devonport Dockyard and not far from Union Street. Don't expect 5 star luxury - the accommodation is basic but scrupulously clean. Easy parking right outside. The Staff - Carol, Tony and Bernie are fantastic - couldn't be more helpful. Carol is a diamond - the proper English breakfast magnificent! We enjoyed our stay, enjoyed the banter and were priveleged to meet Monty the Parrot! We will stay there again when we get work in the area.
