“No complaints, staff friendly, hotel and room clean, comfortable and quiet”

Conveniently located near the business district and a minute away from the interstate. The hotel was clean, comfortable and safe. Would come back.

“too pricey, even for oil rich Dickinson”

The Dakota Lodge is upgrading the rooms. The main lobby is nice and roomy, comfortable. AND, The room we were in was nicely upgraded, tile flooring, new countertop in Bath, BUT tile in shower needed cleaning. We stayed here for the pool area, normally quite a nice place to relax with family and friends. Pool area air conditioner was on, even though it was a balmy 45 degrees outside. ?? The invited extended family to share pizza with us at the hotel, we all ended up sitting around our small room. I mentioned it to the maid early the next day so we could get it warmed up by later that afternoon. To my surprise, she said it had been that way for 3 days, she thought she might mention it to maintanence. Duh, ya think? (The pool area was warmer by late Saturday, unfortunately we were not able to enjoy) Sunday morning the building crew was back at it, pounding away at 8am. This is the most expensive hotel in Dickinson because of the amenities. But in this case we didn't get any bang for our buck.

Getting around

Dickinson ND is experiencing heavy oil activity. The region is full of oil riggers, in a community not equiped to handle the heavy burden of service to the workers. The hotels are packed and service can be lacking because most of the young people are pulled into the oil work. Be sure to make reservations when traveling to Dickinson. The small mom and pop motel we used to stay at ($49) per night no longer takes reservations, as the rooms are rented out monthly to workers.
