Quaint castlePosted May 20, 2015
Loved the castle experience.it was a small castle but very well done. There was even a castle tour in the evening which many of the guests attended. It added even more to the castle experience. However lovely there were problems. Our toilet & TV did not work and no one was ever sent to help. We flushed the toilet by using wastebaskets full of water. The restaurant was very overpriced for dinner., but served a nice breakfast.

Castle RusticPosted May 15, 2015
Room was fairly clean but facility needs some tlc..smoke detectors were full of dust balls....floor under bed had not been cleaned in? Had asked front desk for replacement pillows since ones I had were old and flat...did not get pillows.

DisappointingPosted Apr 20, 2015
Was looking forward to this 'castle' stay. We stood for ten minutes waiting for staff to appear to check in. Smoke from fireplace in lobby permeated the building and was unpleasant. Furniture, fittings and bedding were old and worn. It is an old castle but for the room rate we expected better than this. Does not compare well to other B&Bs we stayed at.

What a place!!Posted Apr 19, 2015
Whatever negative comments you've read on here IGNORE!!!! Yea the rooms are a little tired but the place is a castle not a 5* hotel! The room is equipped with everything you need, iron, TV, bath/shower, comfortable clean beds and wifi. If you want much more than that then stay in one of the generic chain hotels. The staff are fantastic, I was shown to my room which was great and even offered assistance with my 1 bag! The food is great, home cooked with generous sizes and very reasonable prices with a choice of bar or restaurant. I chose the bar because I prefer a pie and chips! We was asked if we wanted to go on the ghost tour and we did. No, it's not one of these daft things where you're told of scary takes and edgy words while waiting for someone to shout BOO but a very enthusiastic assistant manager so proud of the castle that he shares history, stories from previous paranormal investigations done by actual investigators and you visit every grand room. If you want photos then you are free to go back to any of the rooms after. You are also given an information pack afterwards with the history of the families who previously lived there. In the morning we had breakfast which was hearty and very enjoyable then went to the castles small museum for a quick look. Again we were lucky enough to be taken by the assistant manager who talked us through the artefacts and shared yet more history. Please, please stay and enjoy it for what it is!

Up a steep hill.Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: Staff and breakfast.
Cons: Needs things like new beds and new decor.
Location: It was up a steep hill so would be fine for people that enjoyed walking and ghosts.
Up a steep hill, hotel was fine, staff very friendly. didn't realise when I booked it that it has some unexpected happenings. We did the ghost tour which was very good and very interesting. It was value for money and breakfast was very good but I wouldn't stay again

Charming CastlePosted Feb 25, 2015
Enjoyed staying at the Castle but wish that the decor would fit the time period ie., picture in the room was too modern. Also room needs some repairs. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Would stay again in future.

Tulloch CastlePosted Feb 18, 2015 on Hotels.com
+ Lovely castle and friendly staff. Hats off to the assistant manager, very helpful and he aims to make you feel welcome. Lovely traditional big room, really nice. Food was good home cooking. Tour around made it for us. - Bar really needs ripped out and re-styled for a "castle bar". Shame about the housing scheme getting ever closer! Not the castles at fault here but the towns council!!! Shame on them spoiling a beautiful heritage site!!

OK for 1 night, wouldn't stay againPosted Feb 1, 2015 on Hotels.com
Whilst the building is beautiful, if a little creepy, the hotel doesn't have much going for it. Rooms are comfortable but the double I was in had the smallest of bathrooms, dirty shower and so little water pressure that it was hardly worth using it. There is a stale smell throughout the hallways of the hotel although the rooms are fine. Forget it if you want a phone signal too, it's a nightmare. Luckily the WiFi is good throughout the bar and restaurant areas. Food in the bar was poor for what you pay. Breakfast was good, although service a little slow. That aside, staff were welcoming and friendly.
