The Sangti Valley, along the shore of Sangti river, 25 km from Bomdila near Dirang in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh is one of the seasonal homes of the majestic creature called the black-necked crane that flies across from China and perhaps Leh, right into its laps. Locally termed as tung tung ka uk by the people, this rare and beautiful creature today is on the verge of extinction as their numbers are declining every year in the Valley.

A wonderful feeling one gets while crossing this pass at such a high altitude. The air is fresh & crisp but of-course lacks in oxygen to some extent. One should be careful to move around on feet before getting acclaimatised to the climate.

After crossing over the pass & on way to Tawang one can get the experience of witnessing the birth of a rushing torrent. Just a nos. of roadside drains carrying trickles of water from snows and frosts gets expanded and takes the shape of a small mountain stream which ultimately turns into the river at a lower altitude.
