Clean and comfortable hotel.

Good hotel with ample amenities. The gym is fairly well stocked, and the restaurant had a great breakfast buffet. The only detraction was that the pool was closed for renovations at the time, which we didn't know about until we arrived.

Excellent service from a great team

Posted May 15, 2014
Pros: Location, staff and food
Location: Just over teh road from the excellent Museum of Islamic Art and a short walk from Souk Waqif, both well worth a visit.
This hotel benefits from great location, excellent facilities and a friendly team who work really hard to make guests welcome. This was my third time there and the welcome has been the same each time. The restaurant food is excellent, cleanliness superb and overall attention to detail a real credit to the staff.

Bad housekeeping

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Cons: The cleaning staff needs to do a better job!
While the hotel upgraded me to a suite, and the management staff is excellent, is it was not a very pleasant experience. There were disgusting "skid marks" on all the lounge chairs in the suite (which the hotel replaced after I complained) and the bed sheets were not fresh (there was sand in the bed). For a Swiss-run hotel, I was expecting much better conditions. Hopefully, the hotel will make whatever changes it needs to be sure such circumstances don't repeat themselves.

I was surprised

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: Staff, service and food. Not as good views as the other but good enough of the harbor.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Will be right next to the new Qatari museum under construction
Expedia booked me in the wrong Movenpick, and I don't think it was an accident, but it turned out fine. The location was ok but the facility was excellent, the staff were helpful and capable and the food was excellent. I have zero complaints.

Good base for access to Corniche and Doha market

Posted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: Its location and the lovely staff.
Cons: When replacing towels, the same amount should be replaced as were removed. Also please leave enough tea and coffee for more than 1 person.
Location: Very close to Museum of Islamic Art, Dhow Rides and Markets - get ready to haggle.
An interesting place but so painful at most times! Hotel sponsored visa was for the wrong amount of days -4 instead of 6. Ended up having to pay twice to get an extension, which was only obtained on the day the visa expired, even though they took my passport as soon as I arrived. No explanation given as to why only given a partial visa. Taxi transfers to airport - Took the hotel transfer from the airport which we later found out is expensive. When arriving at the airport suggest you get a taxi from the stand. Tried to organise a return taxi from a taxi company but were told that none were available! Needless to say, it is hard to organise anything and in the end we had to take the return transfer which was just as expensive. Facilities - Jacuzzi spa wasn't working on last few days. The pool is mostly always in the shade, so not a lot of chance for a sun tan. Also had to move rooms because the bath plug was jammed. Main grip - rooms are only equipped for one person, and I suppose that reflects the hotel status - it is geared up for business travel and not leisure. Food is very good and the staff are extremely helpful. So overall a mixed experience. Doha is a young city and still being built. Every street has a construction site ongoing. In fact, most places are still construction sites. But the culture is vibrant, the people are welcoming in the market and the shops and the food are great. Just manage your expectations.

This hotel suited us well.

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: See above - the staff
Cons: Restaurent prices!
Location: Well sited for the Cornihe and the Museum of Arabic Art (plus park)
This hotel suited us well whilst we visited our son and new born child (they had limited room for us to stay!). The room was nice and clean and well apointed. The restaurent (if not a little expensive - maybe not for Doha) - provided a good range of choice. we enjoyed the swimming pool; and I the fitness centre. BUT most importantly we found the staff excellent and helpful - many thanks.

Feels like home away from home

Posted Mar 19, 2014
Pros: Convenient location, excellent service and fine food.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Nearly on the Corniche, near the impressive Museum of Islamic Art.
My wife, son and I spent a wonderful three days at this property and could not have asked for a better accommodation anywhere. Staff, food and service were impeccable! Would definitely stay there again.

Good choice for stopover

Posted Mar 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel fairly bland, but very close to the airport and makes a perfectly acceptable stopover. Staff very friendly and eager to please, but avoid the bar unless you are a smoker!

Disappointing: There are better locations in Doha

Posted Feb 11, 2014
Cons: Location! Decor is a little tired
Location: Not a great location, unless you like being right next to a mosque.
The hotel is a little tired and being right next to a mosque is not ideal for peace and quiet. While the room rate was reasonable I object to "stealth" charges like QAR45 to get to the hotel because "our hotel doesn't offer a shuttle service". The location also means additional taxi costs to get to, for example, the Carrefour at Doha Centre.
