From Doi Lo, the major city of Chiang Mai is 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the northeast.

Around 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the northeast of Doi Lo is Chiang Mai, an important regional center which is home to Tribal Museum, Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and Wat Gatekaram. Wat Chedi Luang, Ton Payom Market and Iron Bridge are also worth a visit while you are in Chiang Mai.
For an outdoor cultural activity that will interest the entire family, take the time to head to the region's open-air markets. Chiang Mai is well known for its many traditional villages; these are wonderful windows into the region's rich history.
This spot has some great places for canoeing, so make sure you leave room in your schedule to fit it in. Boating is another popular watersport here. Wildlife watching and bird watching are just some of the great low stress activities in this area.
