Should have been informed of hotel construction!

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Beautiful, old foyeur. Staff were accommodating.
Cons: Construction should not be currently completed in rooms being used by guests.
Location: A short distance from Derry and the walled city of Derry, and not too far from the Giant's causeway. Close to Belleek Pottery.
Arrived at the Clanree Hotel as scheduled/booked and was given room keys on a wing on the second floor. On our walk to the room, we encountered lots of construction, with the hotel undergoing renovations. The room reeked of fresh paint, making it difficult to breathe. On turning on the faucet, thick, brown water ran. The hotel initially offered us other rooms just the same which ee declined. We were then given an un-renovated room, and while the tub was cracked and chipped, the beds were comfortable, and the room did not reek of paint.

Reasonable hotel, Nice pub.

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The pub,and shower in the room.
Cons: It needs better sound proofing to the front bedrooms to block out the motorway noise. Overall needs refurbishment completed asap, in all areas.
Location: Not a great location, its a good 35 minute walk into the town, nothing to visit or walk to near the hotel.
Reasonable hotel which is currently being refurbished, we were offered one of the old rooms and it really was like going back 20 years,it even smelt old, we were relocated to a refurbished room, however this was to the front of the hotel and very noisy, to open the window and still sleep was a definite no. The pub (McGrettigans) was very nice, smart and comfortable, staff were very nice too (well except for one stocky, arrogant manager). Breakfast was at best average, and that's one room that definitely needs refurbished, very shabby. The leisure centre also needs a fair amount of work, very old hat. We dined in the restaurant one evening, and although the food was ok, the service was quite poor. Overall an average hotel, not sure I will be rushing back though.

Convenient Hotel

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Very friendly staff and good food.
Cons: Air conditioning should be installed.
Location: Good location close to roundabouts and being able to visit the beautiful sights around Letterkenny.
Clanree Hotel was a nice hotel, very friendly staff and good food. The only complaint we had was that there was no air conditioning in the room.

Fantastic Stay!

We booked into this hotel for a night away and the stay and facilities exceeded our expectations. The room was beautifully appointed and the facilities (gym/pool) were better than at most hotels. We also enjoyed the onsite restaurant and had a delicious meal too. Would highly recommend.

Full service hotel with great food. Porridge with a shot of whiskey and heavy cream was a super way to start the day! Lots of choice from the breakfast buffet

Just stayed one night, room was large clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice. I did not use any other facilities. There was no problem with car parking. This hotel is on the outskirts of Letterkenny. It is not close to the centre of the town.
