“Hidden Gem”

I was extremely happy with the hotel, from the beginning I felt right at home. I currently live and work in Guangzhou, and I wanted to get away from my apartment when my girlfriend came here. The hotel staff is fantastic-many of them speak great english, and will go out of there way to understand you if you speak a little mandarin or cantonese. The Hotel is fabulous, the rooms are comfortable, the staff is very helpful, and the location is unbeatable. From the main entrance of the hotel, you can see down Beijing Street-one of the oldest streets in china. The hotel is only 7 minutes from the metro stop and you are a quick trip to any of Guangzhou's many hotspots. This hotel was well worth the money and more! Exceeds my expectations.

“Better than I thought”

Pros: 1. Hotel is at the northern end of Beijing Rd. So it's a good tourist location. 2. My room had wooden floors, which I liked. 3. Has buses to the Canton Fair 4. For the price I got, it was worth it. It was almost half the price of other comparable hotels. 5. quiet. 6. Free internet connection was fast. Cons: 1. Hard to get a taxi. 2. The desk in my room was small and hard to do some work. 3. The buses to the Fair only ran from 8am to 9:30am. Other hotels that I've stayed at had more buses running. 4. The typical hotel buffet breakfast was expensive and subpar compared to other hotels. 5. The hotel staff's english skills weren't that good. 6. The room had I was clean but the bed sheets and couch seemed a little worn down. 7. Had only 1 english channel on the television.

“Great location”

This hotel located in the heart of the city of Guangzhou, Beijing Rd. 5 minutes' walk to the subway station, and the room is big and clean.

“WILL GO BACK”

THIS HOTEL LOCATED IN A GOOD SHOPPING AREA WITH LOTS OF RESTAURANTS NEARBY. EASILY ACCESSED TO MTR. HOTEL SERVICE IS SATISFACTORY AND THE ROOM IS CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE WITH ALL NECESSITIES. REASONABLE PRICE,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO MY FRIENDS

“Un bon Hotel”

Un Hotel 3 *** proche de la rue piétionnière Beijing road. Hotel dispose une piscine très utile en été. Hotel dispose un ensemble de restaurants. Hotel est connu des chauffeur de taxi.

“Okay if no other options”

I stayed at this hotel since my plans were made at the last minute and it was the only option. The prices for all hotels in Guangzhou (and Hong Kong for that matter) are ridiculously priced during the Canton Fair... The staff was friendly and paid fair attention. The hotel was ok - the room was a good size, the paint and decor were outdated. The matress was the hardest brick I have ever slept (or attempted to sleep) on. I have spent over 100 days in China this year alone and have never had such a hard mattress. I would only recommend this hotel if there were no other options in the area.

“Business Travel”

The hotel was located within 5 blocks of a major shopping district and more importantly western style food.(McDonalds, KFC, etc.) The rooms are clean and although the staff tried to be helpful expect a language barrier, there was very few English speaking staff members. An example was the laundry service, they offered a great in house laundry service without a way to communicate a price or delivery day. Except for the shopping district the hotel was not located near any upscale restaurants or entertainment. Except to take a taxi to any of these places. The only two complaints were the air conditioning and mattresses. The staff turned the air conditioning off when they cleaned the room resulting in a long period of time to cool the room back down. The mattresses could have been a piece of plywood with a sheet over it. In all fairness I found this to be the norm in hotels in Honk Kong, Macai and Tapai. Overall I would recommend the hotel based on the price.

“Quality of this hotel is going down.”

I selected Hotel Canton because I have stayed here 5 years ago when I visited China. I really like the convenience of the hotel location and the walking distance to Metro stations, but the quality of the hotel is going down hill. The cooling system was broken and we stayed there in the month of July. The rug is dirty. I have two little kids, I have to constantly remind my children not to go bare foot on the rug. Only play on the bed. The lights are dim, I guess that they don't want you to see the room in bright light. The check-in and check-out process were long and the staffs were not friendly at all. I will not recommend this hotel until they upgrade their rooms.
