Rundown hotel with inattentive staffPosted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: It was in the town where I was attending a party
Location: Near the lake, a bowling alley and some good restaurants in Kewaunee
This is one of the few hotels in the area so I was more or less stuck staying here for a nearby event. While the room and hotel were more or less clean, it is very clearly run-down with poor signage and staff who weren't paying attention to the front desk. The only nice thing about the bathroom was that the water was hot - I've never seen a hair dryer so old! I couldn't find an outlet in the bathroom either. I was terrified I'd burn the place down ironing my dress.

First class operation!Posted Dec 3, 2014
Pros: Antiques, atmosphere, staff.
Location: Green Bay, Door County, Lambeau Field, Lake Michigan.
We stayed here 2 nights for a Packers game, 30 minutes from Lambeau and cheapest price in the area. Classic 100+ year old hotel nicely updated with modern amenities and wifi. Nice antiques throughout, hotel bar/grille, and free breakfast. Very friendly staff and they even mailed me an item that I left in the room. If you are expecting the Ritz Carlton, stay at the Ritz Carlton. If you want a great classic hotel in a friendly small town on Lake Michigan, this is the place. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Close to Green BayPosted Oct 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights before a Packer game. Its only a 40 min drive to Green Bay through beautiful pastures, and is very reasonably priced. The hotel is clean, has an old world charm and the jacuzzi tub was a nice addition. The hotel has a history of hauntings, which we experienced first hand. At 230 am both nights our TV turned on by itself and my sleep app recorded movement on the EMPTY bed. Despite this, we loved the hotel and plan on returning next year.

Love this hotel!Posted Oct 15, 2014
This hotel is a wonderful place to stay, I highly recommend it! The architecture is beautiful, the timeless décor is inviting and the staff was wonderful. I stayed in the infamous room 310 that is rumored to be haunted and let's just say it didn't disappoint. I will definitely be staying there again.

Cons: Beds could have been more comfortable.
Location: Close to Lake Michigan in a Historic district.
Charming old Hotel. Friendly staff. Clean charming rooms. Excellent food especially the pizza! The hotel has stories of some resident ghosts.

PACKER's overnightPosted Oct 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel is 100 years old. It has been restored yet has kept the character of its original self. If you like quaint little places that take you back in time I recommend the Karsten. We stayed overnight and while going to a PACKER Game. It is only 28 from the stadium and an easy commute. You will not meet the Kardashians here but that is good.

A gem that needs updatingPosted Sep 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Karsten Hotel has all the makings of a great destination for fans of history. It's near the historic fishing waters in this cute town. It's got wonderful history of its own being rebuilt after a 1913 fire. I know there's a new owner who has big plans. He needs a plan. First up, clean up the stately lobby. Metal doors and a soda machine at the entrance is not befitting of a grand hotel. The furniture is -really- lived in, and worn. But most of all, the beds and bedding in the bedrooms. You can see the potential of the rooms, but the beds are uncomfortable, the pillows worn and flat and the bedding is aged and kind of distasteful to sleep in. We shoved off the bed spread and put on our own duvet that we brought. I look forward to the new owner's plan because I'd like to return in due time to see what he does to fix it up.

Pros: The old time ambvience
Cons: See about restaurant above. You had to order food at the bar.
We loved staying in this old hotel. Wish restaurant had more choices than sandwiches and pizza since my husband is gluten free.
