“Great hotel in the Dorset countryside”

Great hotel with very comfortable room, free wifi and good food too. Owners and staff very friendly and could not do enough to make our stay pleasant. Sat Nav is important but there were some signs from main road.

“Great food in a peaceful rural location!”

Received a warm welcome when we arrived for our one night stay. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Hotel has a nice bar, which we had a quick drink before being seated in the restaurant. Service was good and the food delightful - hot and well presented and the steak done perfectly. Back to the bar for a night cap! Breakfast in the morning was again really nice. Lovely countryside views and baby pigs running around in the adjacent farm. We would go back without question and would recommend it to others.

“Relaxing Dorset”

A lovely location with very pleasant room and facilities. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Although refurbished, its an older building so creaky floorboards are to be expected. The Fox is also a pub and a very pleasant place for a relaxed dring either inside or in the gardens,. We wern't disturbed by the pub in the room

“Difficult to Find”

If you are not familiar with the area you need sat/nav to find The Fox. The hotel reception area is bleak. The evening dining area is large but the decoration is rather miserable. The staff are very helpful and pleasant and the garden and surrounding area attractive. My wife was at one stage trapped in our room due to a faulty lock or handle. The food was plentiful but of indifferent quality. I ordered goat’s cheese and mushroom dish and the quantity of the goat’s cheese was out of all proportion to what came with it. The soup was okay but came in a chipped bowl. I feel that this is a hotel could be a very attractive place to stay once it has benefited from the work of a good interior designer. Currently its better rooms are over priced.
