Nice Enough, Needs its Potenial Realised

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: All of it.
The place looks like it has seen better days (it has). It needs some investment and taking into the 21st century, it is nicely situated for a peaceful weekend away with places of interest not too far away but its a shabby place that needs some good fresh decor. The bedroom and en-suite was decent enough and it looked like the en-suite had been been recently refurbished which was nice. The bed was clean but the mattress was very uncomfortable, it was the old spring type and you always felt them sticking in somewhere. The restaurant was again shabby with no atmosphere with furniture that had seen much better days and the table laying was very basic, I'm sorry to say it was almost a bit cafe like The food was average and you got the impression the chef wasn't that bothered with the finer things. Their breakfast fair didn't inspire much either. We were only staying 2 nights but if we had booked in for 3 or more we would have been felt very disappointed.

Secluded Restaurant/pub/hotel in heart of Dorset

Posted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Restfulness
Cons: Some more experience in the administration aspects would have made payment easier, but this will come with time.
Location: The Fox Inn is a little out of the way if you want lots to do, but car drives of 10 -20 miles provide you with a vast array of activities.
The Fox Inn is a lovely old house with a link to the local brewing trade. New owners are putting their own stamp on what appears to have been a well known and respected eating place. We were well looked after.

Well worth a visit.

Posted Jan 2, 2014
Pros: It's in the middle of beautiful countryside and is quite and peaceful.
Cons: It would be really nice if they had an inviting log fire in the bar areas for the winter months. The dining room could have been a bit warmer.
Location: Great central (off the beaten track) location for visiting Dorset.
The owners of this Inn are obviously trying very hard. Our room had been very recently refurbished and it was clear that they are making investments to attract customers. I hope they continue on this course.

friendly service

The staff were incredibly friendly and as a single traveller I was made to feel welcome. The mobile phone reception is horrendous and I was encouraged to call my husband on the land line, reassuring him I had arrived safely. The food was delicious and good value for money.
