sparkling clean with a* breakfast!

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, fresh cooking, cost and position
We booked on Wednesday, stayed on Friday for 1 night only. The hotel is directly opposite the beach with yellow lines everywhere but...parking was to the rear of the hotel... just a short walk away. The hotel is grade 2 listed with some fabulous - presumably original - ceiling rose/cornice features, fireplaces and windows. Our room was small but very clean and comfortable with full en-suite facilities. Breakfast was cooked to order...recommend the scrambled eggs with sausage and mushrooms...and the cost for two of us was fantastic value at £54 all in!!! Will book again when in the area. Sue S

lovely place near the sea

Posted May 6, 2014
Pros: Easy to find and right on the sea front.
Location: Only a short drive to the ferry and a nice walk to the shops
We all enjoyed our stay at A Maiden Rest. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Sadly we left before breakfast, but by the look of the dinning room everything seemed laid out ready for the guests. The view was lovely too.

Good value hotel overlooking beach

Posted Apr 19, 2014
Pros: Good location, very comfortable room. Bed also comfy, had a good night's sleep. Owner was welcoming and there if needed, perfect host for us!
Cons: Décor and carpets in the passageways are a little worn but we could see it is work in progress as present owners have not been there all that long.
Location: Centrally placed within walking distance of Weymouth shops, harbour and town. Overlooking the beach.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - much better than expected. Room very clean and comfortable. Lots of tea and coffee available in room. Excellent breakfast for the price charged, lovely dining room overlooking beach. Owner friendly and welcoming but not overbearing - there if needed. Only downfall could be the parking - we were lucky to find a space only a few minutes walk away but the seasonal parking restrictions were not yet in force, it would be more difficult during the summer. We will definitely stay here again as is an excellent B & B for the money!

Hotel next to beach

Had ever thing we need for a short break. Everything in walking distance from the hotel. Parking was a bit of trouble because of building work next door apart from that good.

Dean a lovely host, terrible pokey room

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Dean was a very friendly and welcoming host. The room however was much to be desired. In felt like it was in a basement and few steps down with a wall for a view, very dark and 'dungeon-like' and extremely small. Felt claustrophobic. My husband came to the realisation that it was only 'somewhere to lay our heads'. I did feel though that for the money, it most definitely needed to be more than a 'hostel' and more about the experience of the room and stay in general. I wouldn't recommend staying there again based on that.

Nice hotel close to beach but....

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Great view, close proximity to the beach, good breakfast, friendly staff.
Cons: Install Wi-Fi and sort out some parking (admittedly the second improvement may not be plausible)
Location: Great area for walking, fishing, crabbing, eating, drinking, amusement arcades, lying on the beach, windsurfing etc.
The hotel was nice, the room was large with a fantastic view, the breakfast was tasty and the proprietor was extremely pleasant. My only criticisms were the lack of wifi and the absolute nightmare that is parking!! If you get a parking spot near the hotel do not leave it for any reason!!

lovely location

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: some modern furnishings in a period building and the light dining room overlooking the sea.
Cons: The window was difficult to prop open and had a view of a wall
Location: We enjoyed a walk along the promenade and a trip up the viewing tower, which gave us 360* view of the coast
we spent a very comfortable night prior to getting the ferry to Guernsey

Good overall service

Posted Nov 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very welcoming, great breakfast and excellent location. Bad points are residents only parking in surrounding streets. Couldn't accommodate an earlier breakfast on Sunday. Would definitely stay again and would recommend. We attend a few sailing events throughout the year and normally go for the Premier Inn but this was a cheaper option with friendlier service.
