“A bargain for some touches of luxury”
Cottonwood has recently been refurbished, mostly successfully (altho with a few odd touches like trendy patchwork sofas - not to my taste, although other aspects of decor were great).I had sourced a bargain deal on the internet but even so was upgraded from a single room (travelling for business) to a gorgeous triple with a desk and chairs, and a fab sea view (three large windows overlooking the hotel gardens and a small green, and then sea stretching to the horizon.) Room was very clean (and well serviced every day) and newly furnished with comfortable beds, lots of pillows and goodish linen. Skinny bath with a very weak shower was one drawback. Tea/coffee tray was welcome. Location is excellent with the East Cliffe preomenade directly in front of hotel, the lift down to the beach near by, and easy walks to both the town centre in one direction and Boscombe in the other. Had dinner in the Garden restuarant and the food was excellent, imaginative and well presented, altho portions were quite restrained. Staff were mostly willing although not very polished, and there never seemed to be very many of them about. Their computer system seemed to be giving them problems too. Free safe parking was a bonus. As a single woman traveller, always felt very safe. Overall, a bargain for some touches of luxury. Hotel is trying hard.
