“worth a visit”
3rd visit to the mariners, which baring mind with a young child answers a lot of questions! seaside town hotels are not cheap! Rooms are quaint but totally fine, cool little bathroom, tv, comfy beds and tea and coffee. Breakfasts are HUGE. Dinners are locally sourced and yummy - not the cheapest but easy for me Lyme Regis is a delightful town
“Mariners in Lyme Regis”
Very nice hotel. Beautifully decorated, clean & comfortable. Great shower, nice breakfast, plenty of free parking and just a short stroll to the seafront. There's also a nice bar with a well kept garden & lovely views toenjoy an alfresco drink. Highly recommended.
“A gem in Lyme Regis”
The staff at the hotel greet you with a warm, friendly welcome from the initial check-in process until departure. At times the front desk is not manned - there's a bell where you can summon attention, but it doesn't work! However the kitchen is nearby and from the voices this is probably manned when the front desk isn't! A problem with the toilet not flushing was resolved efficiently. The breakfast in the hotel was spot on with the main course being freshly cooked for you to your own requirements. Unlike the notorious buffet breakfast that has almost replaced personal service the only time you are required to serve yourself is for coffe, cereal/fruit/etc. Tea and toast is delivered to your table along with the main course. The small bar is friendly and open all day, but you may on occasions have to wait for service. This is a gem of a hotel on the edge of Lyme Regis.
“A nice hotel, although not perfect.”
A nice hotel. Reasonably situated (although less fit guests may find the slog back up the hill from the main part of the town something of a trial) with great staff, good food, and decent rooms. Starting with the best, the staff. Friendly, helpful & efficient. The food was also very good, and although light on vegetarian options the chef was very accommodating, which I always think is a good sign. Apart from anything else it means the food is actually being cooked as opposed to unwrapped. The room was clean and well maintained. It wasn’t that large and the en suite was frankly cramped with (pet hate warning) a low pressure shower. The bed was a double but having travelled a lot in the USA I’m used to ‘double’ meaning something the size of a small town. It literally meant the old double bed standard which is.... pretty small by modern standards. The strange bit was the corridors, weirdly enough. The Dining room is very pleasant, well maintained, the room was very pleasant and well maintained. The corridors were like a cheap B&B. OK, so it’s a historic building and you expect narrow corridors, stairs that double back, and the odd low beam. However I didn’t expect worn carpet and odd things casually screwed to the wall here & there. Still, nobody stays at a hotel because of the quality of the corridors so we’ll leave that one. The acid test, would I stay there again? Yes, although probably in a bigger bed.
