Very nice and clean

Posted Jul 31, 2015
We came down for a short break with our youngest child. Apart from weather not great I was expecting a very simple holiday, only when I got there I was plesently surprised on how nice and clean and friendly it was. Things to do swimming in or out ( pool was not a heated pool quiet cold ) but that didn't effect us really x room very clean and food amazing and breakfast great variety. Will definitely book again

Nice hotel close to the beach

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Two of us stayed at the Cumberland hotel for 3 nights. It was a very enjoyable stay with welcoming and polite staff. The room was very clean when we arrived and the bed was massive! We had a nice view of the sea out of the side window. The food was very nice and the service was rather quick to get what you needed. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning which was to a good standard and we also ate dinner there for one night which was amazing. The only negative was the small car park which was too small to park every guests car. Overall a great stay at The Cumberland and we would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about staying in Bournemouth.

Friendly helpful staff

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Rooms.
Location: We attended four day dance competition at BIC which was only 15 minute walk.
Excellent welcome. Attentive staff throughout. Our stay. Lovely breakfast. Only downside was the musky damp smell in the room. Wouldn't stay again only due to room. Cannot fault the staff and bar areas.

Nice staff, shame about the small single rooms

Posted Jul 23, 2015
Pros: The staff I dealt with were very nice and friendly and also helpful.
Cons: First floor corridors décor are definitely due for a refurbishment. Single rooms should have the same standard of décor as the double rooms!
Location: The hotel is situated in a nice area of Bournemouth with easy walking access to the beach, pier and shops etc.
I booked to stay here as I have stayed several times before over the past 8 years. Although the communal areas e.g. dining room, bar, terrace, pool etc were still lovely the single room I was allocated was not great and very small. I appreciate that I paid for a single room but the room was dark and small and the room could do with a refurb. The towels were tiny, hard and stained (although clean)! The room was on the first floor and the whole floor decor really needed an upgrade. On requesting a bigger room the staff member I spoke to was very nice but suggested I already had one of the bigger single rooms! On his suggestion I decided to upgrade to a standard double (supplement of £20 per night) after being shown it by one of his colleagues. This room was on the 4th floor and much brighter and airier! (also the towels were much bigger and fluffier!)The room furniture was a lot nicer also. My only issue with this room was that it was very very hot!

Room 121 is a no no

Posted Jul 23, 2015
Well Room 121 is awful the kitchen extractor fan is outside the window so the room spells all the time of a fry up, it's nosy and very hot in the room. We complained and moved us after the first night but said they have this problem all the time with this room. I feel if they know this then the room should be cheaper and it should say on the description. It put a dampner on the three nights away for our 24th wedding anniversary.

Good but not great.

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: Good points: Impressive public areas, lovely staff, good beds, room was generally smart and comfortable.
Cons: Pathetic lift, no A/C in room, awful TV reception, no fridge, no room safe. A long walk to/from town centre. Absolutely the worst brea
Location: New Forest is very good, Bournemouth aviation museum is good, and no doubt other things outside town - but the town itself is very boring.
I think I would try the Premier Inn next time, as it is right near what little action Bournemouth has - however I don't know if it has any parking.

Lovely Art Deco room with sea view and balcony

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Staff very welcoming and provided key information on arrival. Room (4th floor) was delightful, great view, plenty of space to put things and nice comfy chair and matching two seater sofa. Bed linen clean and bed quite comfortable but thicker pillows would be nice. No AC but was able to open window and balcony door so not a problem. Tried food at Mirabelle restaurant on site and the Overcliff gastro pub at sister hotel next door and both were very good value and of good quality. Breakfast was also very good value at £7 if you pre booked ( we were room only) and there was a good range of items. One downside was the lift - only room for 3 people and for a larger hotel this seemed inadequate. All staff encountered were absolutely charming. Overall a great hotel which I would not hesitate to recommend.

Fabulous hotel with great staff

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and provided excellent service. Hotel was clean. Good Food.
Cons: Wi-Fi not very good but stopped me working so all good as on holiday!
Location: Location was great as only short walking distance to beach and shops.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful at check-in and throughout our stay. The room was spacious and opened up to the balcony/terrace area which was superb with fabulous sea views!
