A nice place to stay.Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: I liked the home from home relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: This is not a modern luxury hotel, although it is well maintained, and this does in some ways add to the rustic and eclectic charm of the hotel.
Location: A very easy 10 minuet walk to the town of Westbourne. Good bus services and within easy reach of Bournemouth and the coast.
Greeted by a friendly smiling face on arrival, shown where everything was and even shown where we could get some fresh milk and filtered water in the kitchen if we needed it and then escorted to our room. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Everything you could possibly want including free wifi access (although we did not use it on this occasion). The room was comfortable and clean, with onsuit shower and toilet, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water, hair dryer and a nice free-view TV. Breakfast was excellent with tea, coffee, fruit juice and everything you would want from just cereal, toast or eggs through to a full English, which I had, and this was really nicely prepared and presented. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. All in all a really nice stay. Would certainly stay here again if the need arises.

Oh my goodness. This was an amazing find. Cute but funky. The homemade brownies, the extensive breakfast and friendly staff made it a great experience. Liked the flamingo room!

Warm welcome, lovely food, and superb locationPosted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The individual character of the hotel, this is no faceless chain. The staff really interact with the guests, and the breakfasts are a treat.
Cons: I can imagine that in the height of summer, car parking may be at a premium, but we experienced no problems parking at the hotel.
Location: Westbourne is a short stroll away and is ideal for eating out in the evenings. Brownsea Island with the red squirrels is simply enchanting.
We had an excellent stay in a very comfortable snug room, really bright with two windows. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel at home. The breakfast was superb with some unusual but very tasty alternatives to the standard English breakfast, such as corn fritters or pancakes , all freshly cooked. The location was perfect with a short walk to the beach or a stroll to the numerous restaurants in Westbourne, catering for all tastes. We shall definitely be coming back.

Lovely place and can't wait to returnPosted Sep 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
From the moment we walked through the front door and were greeted by Zac (we think!!) we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. It's a 10 minute walk either way to the town centre where there are plenty of restaurants and the beach through a lovely wooded area, although this is uphill coming back so may not be great for the infirm. The part of the beach that it takes you down to is very quiet which we liked, with a 15 minute walk to Bournemouth and about 10 min to Poole. The hot breakfast choice is brilliant and the homemade granola is a nice touch. There is limited parking at the front of the hotel but we were always able to get a spot. The reason why I gave the 'surrounding neighbourhood' a 4 is that it's in a residential area, and although relatively quiet this wasn't obvious from the main photo. Will definitely return.

Unlucky with the bedroomPosted Sep 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
On arrival, the bedroom seemed fine. However after an evening out we arrived back at the room to a foul smell coming from the en suite bathroom. Seemingly this had been an ongoing problem that the owner thought had been rectified after several plumber visits. It's hard to believe that we could see that there was a leak coming from the base of the toilet yet neither the owner nor the plumber could see it!! That smell ruined our night. We asked for a reduction in the room rate and were offered a derisory £5 which we refused. The owner reluctantly gave us a £15 reduction. Other than the bathroom, the room was ok but the mattress was the hardest we have ever slept on. Breakfast was the best bit of our stay. Would we go there again?? I'm afraid not. Maybe we were just unlucky with the roomer were allocated.

A fine independant establishment. Please tell the owners if you are going to arrive after 10pm as the reception will not be manned.
