"Nice staff, shame about the small single rooms"
I booked to stay here as I have stayed several times before over the past 8 years. Although the communal areas e.g. dining room, bar, terrace, pool etc were still lovely the single room I was allocated was not great and very small. I appreciate that I paid for a single room but the room was dark and small and the room could do with a refurb. The towels were tiny, hard and stained (although clean)! The room was on the first floor and the whole floor decor really needed an upgrade. On requesting a bigger room the staff member I spoke to was very nice but suggested I already had one of the bigger single rooms! On his suggestion I decided to upgrade to a standard double (supplement of £20 per night) after being shown it by one of his colleagues. This room was on the 4th floor and much brighter and airier! (also the towels were much bigger and fluffier!)The room furniture was a lot nicer also. My only issue with this room was that it was very very hot!

"Super Location "
The room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is great for the beach, the town and transport links (regular bus from across the road to the train station). The breakfast was of an excellent standard and hot and fresh. The dining room is run efficently and with values that are hard to find in many hotels these days.

"Nice hotel, clean and modern"
Browsed Internet for a hotel that had a family room to sleep 2 adults and 2 children. There was hardly any that slept 4, loads that slept 3, 2 adults 1 child. This hotel did what I wanted, available on the dates I required, and the food was excellent. Very clean and staff very friendly.

"Hotel close to beach and township"
Hotel facilities good. Nice lounge, bar and restaurant furnishings . Staff excellent. We requested to be moved to a larger room and staff acted upon this request straight away and moved all our luggage for us whilst we continued with our plans for the day. We were impressed with the professionalism of the staff in all areas of this hotel.

"A pleasant trip "
So having paid for a budget room my daughter and I were over the moon to have been given a room with a little balcony overlooking the sea! I must say a big thank you for this. Now this was a wonderful thing to happen to us as we have never gotten so lucky before; however I have to give an honest review as I know some will pay that extra amount and end up in this room. So we were happy because we paid budget, but if I had paid that extra I would not have been so happy. The balcony overlooked the sea and this was amazing, we are not fussy people but it was tiny and the flooring was grimy (again it comes down to the cost of the room with what is there). the bed was super comfy which I was so pleased about. All in all, the room was wonderful, except the one little thing that the shower is more like walking through a drizzly rain! Gave up on it in the end as the shampoo would not rinse out! Needs some attention in the bathroom. The lift is super slow so we gave that a miss as we would spend half our time waiting for it. Saying that the hotel is a traditional seaside English style hotel and we really do love it. Indoor pool out of action for a day but the staff were very helpful in explaining why. I would come back to this hotel again on a deal for sure as we like the character of it.

"Reception staff were so accommodating"
I booked a room with a bath, having phoned the central reservations number for confirmation. Unfortunately the hotel didn't get this message, but accommodated me quickly when I realised it didn't. Very comfy bed, clean room.

    Where to stay in Dorset

    Your Guide to Dorset Hotels

The lovely county of Thomas Hardy is sometimes overlooked in favor of its higher profile neighbors, but opting for hotels in Dorset when you plan your next break could be a smart decision. So, before you dash off to Cornwall or make a beeline for Sussex, check out some Dorset hotels and indulge yourself in the luxury of 4-star hotels in a destination that’s truly 5-star.

First stop has to be beautiful Bournemouth, which grew to prominence with the popularity of sea bathing in the Edwardian era, bringing visitors from far and wide to take the waters and breathe the pungent air of the pine trees that line Bournemouth beach. Some of the charm of that era can still be recaptured in buildings such as the Winter Gardens, the art deco theatres and cinemas and the impressive spa hotels that sprang up to service the growing stream of rich and famous visitors.

Bournemouth has never been content to rest on its historic laurels however, and today it’s a vibrant and modern town with plenty to keep culture vultures more than happy. Bournemouth International Centre is one of the major venues on the south coast, hosting performances by international stars as well as influential political conferences and trade exhibitions. This has encouraged a number of well-known chains of business hotels to locate in the town, helping to swell visitor numbers at the budget end of the scale.

Nature-lovers won’t be able to resist a trip to Brownsea Island, the largest of eight islands in Poole Harbor and owned by the National Trust. Thanks to its isolation from the mainland it is one of the few remaining places in England where indigenous red squirrels can still be found, while the lagoon is a popular feeding ground for wading birds such as terns and avocets.

To the west of the county lies Lyme Regis, known as the "Pearl of Dorset" and favorite holiday haunt of J. R. R. Tolkien. Check into one of the romantic hotels in the pretty town centre before following in the footsteps of John Fowles’ enigmatic French Lieutenant’s Woman with a bracing walk along the Cobb. Then visit the museum built on the site of the family shop of famous paleontologist Mary Anning to learn more about the fascinating fossils found on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site..
