Good Location. Friendly Welcome.
We were in Dortmund for a football match. We stayed in this Mercure the second nigh (the City one for the first night). This Mercure was far better than the City one - it actually has a normal type entrance and reception set up for a start. Not the cheapest hotel, but they obviously knew the football was on. Welcome was friendly and room was fine. Hair dryer was very week. Bath towels are not very big. And the usual question - would i stay there again. The answer is Yes, but I'd check prices elsewhere.

Nice stay although we came down for breakfast at 10.00 and there was nothing left apart from a bit of fruit and toast.

Easy access for town centre
Very small room for 2 travellers for 3 nights, very limited storage, very poor lighting in room, awful view from window!! Free WiFi is a joke unless you pay for faster speeds.

Really well located in the centre of Dortmund, staff extremely helpful and pleasant, breakfast very good. Our room was quite large with a balcony, which was a nice surprise.

Was nice hotel, no coffee available in room for 2 days, no fresh towels for 4. Only seen room staff for 1day. Seemed to be short staffed all round. Receptionist was delight though.

The hotel was stylish and clean. Location was perfect only steps away from the shops and about 300m from U stop line that gets directly to Iduna Stadium. The hotel staff was professional and helpful every time i needed something. Morning breakfast was quality and rich in choice. Our 3 bed room was bright, clean and comfortable but the highlight was tge bed and tge bedding which was one of the best ever ! The only one thing i didnt like during my stay was the coffee from the machine at breakfast. It was shame that it was nescaffee rather than bean to coffee fresh brewd coffeemajer which is standard in hotels of that standards all round the world. Overal our stay was great abd we woukd choose to stay agsin on our next visit to Dortmund.

The hotel was lovely - good location, close to the centre and very festive around Christmas. The only fault was how cold the bedrooms were - especially when you come inside from freezing outdoors!

Disappointing stay
I booked a room for a family of 3 pax. But when we checked in at 21:00 apparently the given room was for 2 pax only on the 5th floor where we had to carry our baggages by hand to 5th floor from the 4th floor where the end of lift /elevator. Although, the front office lady confirmed the given room was for 3 pax but it was not the case!! When I reported the problem the same lady at front office changed the room and gave us instead a 3 pax small room where we had to carry our baggages again to 3rd floor!! There was no one to help us carry the baggages from to room although we asked for it!!!

We were very happy with our stay. We were able to gain access to the room to drop off our bags and get changed very early, which was great. The location was very central, which was particularly useful given it was only for one night. Our room was next to a water tank of some sort it seems, so it was loud at times, but not throughout the night. If we make the trip again, it is likely we will stay here.

Nice on the outside.
The hotel appeared to be quite nice, and our room (a suite) was very large. The a/c unit, however, was only in the living room and due to construction on our balcony, we could not open the windows. The room was stifling and we spent a sleepless night. Also, the room came with a large jacuzzi tub which would not fill due to a drain plug issue. The desk was somewhat apologetic for the issues, but more dismissive than anything else. It could be a great hotel....

Good location poor accommodation.
The rooms were a long way from the reception down in the lower levels. Luckily we only had one suitcase so I could manage. A couple with two bags would struggle. Three sets of doors some with key card only access plus three set of stairs. No help from staff at all. Room was smelly and very high humidity. Asked for some one to check out the smell- no one available! Asked for an ironing board and was told I had to collect it myself. Breakfast was very expensive ad very poor quality. We came at the end of service and some foods were missing and rest were dried out.
