“Entirely satisfactory for overnight stay.”

Arrived after dark; difficult to locate approach to hotels in area because of this. Desk clerk extremely helpful, changed my room to be closer hotel front without a problem. Room clean and comfortable. Scarcely heard trains from the notorious nearby tracks behind hotel. Slept through night without awakening. Left prior to 6:30 breakfast so unable to evaluate. Would stay there again without question.

“Loud Train”

There is a LOUD train that passes by several times a night, shaking the bed & rattling the windows. Nice hotel otherwise, but not great if you want a good night of sleep. I'm not a light sleeper and this woke me up several times.

“Very Poor Customer Service and Noisy”

We arrived at the hotel at 1:30 PM and were very curtly told that check-in time was 3 PM. There was no apology and the clerk didn't even check to see if any rooms were available and the parking lot was nearly empty. We felt we were trated rather rudely. The hotel is not very well insulated sound-wise. The people above us had young children who ran around until nearly midnight. The resulting noise was so loud that it kept us awake until they finally went to bed. Breakfast was okay, but certainly not sterling. Location was good if you want to walk to King's Dominion but if you want a good variety of restaurants you have to go to Ashland another 6 miles down the road.

Area recommendations

The area is good if you plan on walking to King's Dominion, which is right across the street from the hotel. Walking will save you the $12 parking fee. There are relatively few restaurants in Doswell, however, and you will have to go some six miles further down the road to Ashland for a better selection.

Dining

We chose to eat dinner at the Cracker Barrel in Ashland, which is always a good choice. It is located right off the freeway exit to Ashland. Be sure to allow plenty of time though because there's always a waiting list.

“Great for Kings Dominion trip”

Picked this hotel based on other reviews and they were accurate. Facility is nice and room was very comfortable and clean. Didn't have an opportunity to even find the pool because we spent so much time at Kings Dominion. It is right across the street and you can even walk there and save on parking. The next morning I grabbed a cup of tasty free coffee and saw the free breakfast that looked pretty good (incl make your own waffles!), but I didn't partake. Only downside to this hotel was that there a train tracks right behind and I heard 2 trains pass by in the middle of the night, but my 8 year old was so exhausted it didn't even phase him. I would return!

“train noise no sleep”

Didn't even have cnn hnews chanel while breaking news in Japan was in the forefront. Only got 3 hours sleep because of noisy trains 30 feet from motel. going all night blowing whistle. sour creamers for breakfast coffee.

“Kings Dominion Top Choice”

Room was large and spacious. As well it was well maintained. The continental breakfast was nice and a great way to get the day started.

“Excellent and Convenient”

Nice hotel, walking distance to Kings Dominion. Breakfast in the morn was great. Room was very clean. Pool/Jacuzzi was cute. Definitely a place to stay.

“Great stay!”

We stopped at this hotel on the way to Florida, and then stopped again on the way back. We even coordinated our travel plans back because we had such a nice stay. Everything was clean.The parking lot felt safe and secure, even when we got there at 2 am. Check in was great and quick ( which was important for us). The nice breakfast area was a great addition. It was also convenient that there was a Burger king right next door as well as a gas station. Kings Dominion across the street. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Make sure you call ahead for an address that will work with a GPS. located among 3 hotel complex, directly across from the Kings Dominion.
