"A little surprise gem in Albany, old world charm"
We had chosen Morgan State house because it wasn't one of those side-of-the-interstate chains, and the images on the website looked like it hard the charm of yester-year. Some of the charm came from the quirky old world traditions such as real keys to doors and lots of old oak wood trim in the common areas. At first the number of keys and instructions were a bit daunting however the staff member who greeted us after office hours was first rate and made the whole experience begin on the right foot. Our check-in was in the Morgan State House proper at 393 State Street, however our lodgings were in the Washington Park at 399 State Street. We were assigned a room on the 9th Floor, the quality of bed and furniture were first rate; the bed was extremely comfortable, and we had an included kitchen/kitchenette with fridge, sink, stove top etc. The room was done in a beautiful soothing palette and co-ordinated colours. The bathroom was very adequate however a little old in style but for old home owners everything made sense. Breakfast time is a treat, we headed down the street to the main Inn and went into the kitchen/dining common area and set about organising our food- staff very friendly in helping pointing out everything ( a little DIY) and we sat outside in a wonderful back courtyard with tea/coffee, cereal, toast and fruit. Everything in the kitchen is at your disposal.
Do consider asking about the parking lot. I will definitely stay here next time.

We were staying there after seeing the Paul McCartney concer in Albany and called the hotel to let them know we'd be checking in quite late. After a long day filled with excitement it was great to get to the hotel and be greeted with such friendly staff that made sure we had everything we needed. Hotel is very clean and very close to everything. Any time I am in Albany I will definitely stay there.

Second time i have chosen them. The first time was planned, this time was a last minute emergency. Both times i found friendly, caring staff, ready to respond to my needs and make things as easy and as comfortable as possible. If you want a hotel that has excellent amenities and people you can actually talk to providing you the services you need when away from home, this would be a good choice. It does fill up though. The first time i was able to extend my reservation. The second time, the were sold out, but they helped me look for alternatives. How good is that!

This hotel was an excellent choice, the price was good especially for the size of the room and its amenities. The staff was the most pleasant I have ever met in a hotel, from the hostess who had just baked cookies before our arrival, the host who suggested a good place to dine, to the maintenance man who fixed our lamp, and to - especially - the young woman who ran the breakfast kitchen constantly filling the coffee urns, while providing a lovely meal and being sure everything was neat and filled. A delightful stay. We were ten miles from our destination visit, but rooms there were filled. So we had a bit of a ride back and forth. However, it was a cozy thought when we tiredly headed back to our hotel each night. Very important!
