"Nice hotel!"
This hotel was in a good location and our room had a nice view. It was in walking distance of a nice plaza with shopping areas (coincidentally, my daughters' favorite store was here!). The hotel room was clean and the lobby had a really nice resting area. The people at the valet were really quick and friendly. I'm definitely going to come back!

"Extremely good value - highly recommended!!"
Jerry's Motel was the best place I stayed in during my travels around California, despite it also being the cheapest! It was exceptionally good value. The location is easy walking distance from downtown. It's a little out of the way of downtown, but it's still within walking distance of a good metro station, and walking distance from the main LA concert halls too. But if you're staying in LA you're probably driving, unlike I was, and since it has parking that's even better for you! As a young woman travelling alone, I felt completely safe in Jerry's Motel. I received a warm welcome from staff at check-in - she was extremely helpful, and gave me maps and recommendations, and even a Tap card for public transport. Plus a goodie bag of snacks, and there were some really nice toiletries in the bathroom... things you'd expect of a high quality hotel, not a quite affordably priced motel! The room was completely, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. No criticisms. I cannot praise Jerry's Motel enough as an extremely affordable but utterly lovely place to stay. I would highly recommend it!

"Uber trendy - Great food"
I had a great experience. Very friendly service from the desk to the valet. The room was small but very comfortable and had a great view (I would request the North side of the hotel). It would be a perfect place for a couple (esp a young couple) to get away or younger friends who might be traveling together. The bar area and the restaurants are geared to a younger crowd at night so if you return late you'll find a DJ in the lobby and more of a nightclub atmosphere. I'd stay elsewhere if you're with the family but perfectly fine and fun for a business traveler. The food on site is incredible. Pot is one of the newest, hottest restaurants in LA and it lives up to the hype. I stayed here for work as it was one of the less expensive places in the area (that might be because of the Expedia deal; I can't imagine one would always get that type of deal). Eat at Pot, get the fruit salad for breakfast from room service. If you are looking for a place where you will be able to walk to attractions, this isn't the place for you. I was spending most of my time in Hollywood and it was about a 20-25 minute drive.

"Pleasant stay at the conveniently located Miyako"
My family and I found the Miyako a clean, efficient, and modern place to stay for a few nights while we visited relatives, checked out downtown L.A. and enjoyed the Japanese American National Museum. We recommend it... it is not fancy, but modern and convenient. If you are driving, use the valet parking which is a real bargain for L.A.

"Changes have been made"
Very handy to Union Station, We stayed there two or three years ago. It was a bit seedy but inexpensive and quite adequate for us. This time [July 2014] we found it upgraded inside and out, re-staffed, with clean and well-appointed rooms, a good complementary breakfast. We recommend it for all.

Shelter Hotel is a hidden gem. The 3 staff members I dealt with were friendly and helpful. The hotel is tiny and off the beaten path but well priced and centrally located. The room was spacious and clean. The decor and furnishings modern and sophisticated.
