"The W is Tough to review"
Was in Minneapolis over night and wanted something on West end of Marquette Ave. I remember being taken to see the Foshay Tower when I was a kid some 60 years ago. The renovation has been done well. The look is modern and the colors sophisticated. The rooms are small and view is somewhat obstructed by taller buildings surrounding the tower. The beds are comfortable, the pillows good. The rain head shower is pleasant. It lives up to the reputation of a Four-Star and that is my problem. Many hotel chains have similar comfort today. I can usually find a hotel with similar comfort that offers little amenities like , in room coffee, refrigerators, microwaves and a short walk down the hall to vending areas. Places like the W offer in room wet bars and charge extortionist prices for the contents. No in room coffee. Room service Is advertised but there was no menu in the room. My wife said to call the desk but since I didn't plan to eat in I did not bother. Every one we had dealings with was friendly, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately I always come out of the up-scale places feeling I did not quite get enough "bang for my bucks". I realize the usual customer for the up-scale places is on an expense account so four time the going rate for a bottle of water is shrugged off. I am retired and spending my money now so I have gotten a little tighter in my old age. If you feel like "putting on the dog" the W will suit the bill.

"Great Hotel"
We chose to stay here while in town for a Twins game. The walk is a bit longer than we were used to, but the hotel we had previously stayed at raised their room rates and had little else to offer in compensation. This hotel is by far one of the nicest ones I have stayed at! It was a small walk to the stadium, but the amenities and the atmosphere definitely made up for the jaunt. There are far too few hotels with a "lounge" that also have shuffleboard and pool tables, so this hotel is a true gem in Minneapolis!

"Over weekend to see family and the Minnesota Twins"
Beautiful hotel which was originally a bank built in 1906. Still retains original marble entryways and pillars. A old vault is displayed on a wall near the hotel front desk. Has some historical black and white photos on hotel walls. My hotel room was luxurious, with a king size bed, which may have been the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Bathroom was nice with 1st class soaps and toiletries. The glass enclosed walk-in shower would have been large enough for 4 - 5 people. I upgraded my room at a small charge.

"Hyatt Regency Minneapolis"
Overall, it is a good experience to me. I always like Hyatt and choose it. For this Hyatt Regency, I would like to say two things. I told the customer service I would arrive late and i checked in at 3 am. There was only one staff at the front desk. I don't know if it was too late or he had a long day. The feeling he gave me was very tired and not that friendly comparing Hyatt I had before. Another thing is between 8:30 am and 9 am, I had someone tried to get into my room, maybe the house keeping. However, the house keeping knocked on the door and tried to came in around 10:30 am. I am glad I locked the door. I was very tired and I didn't know what was going on. Besides those, the experience in Hyatt Regency Minneapolis is good. I will still come and recommend it to others in the future.
