Loved this Hotel!!

Posted Mar 30, 2015
This place was awesome!! I would recommend it to anyone that wants to be in the heart of Gaslamp district. as soon as you walk out the front door of the hotel you are next to fun bars and restaurants. House of blues was next door and there was an other bar that was part of the hotel that was super fun. The hotel staff was super nice, their coffee was great and the hotel was super clean. I loved that they would bring you anything that you forgot, even a flat iron or curling iron cause I needed both. The room was a little small but nice, didn't bother me and my boyfriend since we weren't in the room that long anyways. We went to the uss midway which was a lot of fun and the San Diego Zoo was super awesome, it was only a 4minute uber ride. Oh and I also loved the fact that the hotel had a dog at the front desk to greet you, but I am a dog lover! :)

Perfect Mix and Right Price. Best Value Hotel

Posted Mar 12, 2015
Pros: EVERYTHING...literally.
Cons: I honestly can't think of anything. I would say shuttle service, but not sure that's even required.
Location: Right in the middle of the downtown/gas lamp district of SD. It was a 10 minute ($13) cab ride to the airport.
I've always been impressed with Kimpton Hotels. They're the perfect mix of quality, comfort, location, cost, and trendiness. The hotel is right smack in the middle of the San Diego Gas Lamp District, the staff we're super welcoming and helpful, and the room was very clean and modern with a touch of class. It was pretty nice when we came into our room to find a personal handwritten note from Sandra, who cleaned our room. The also have a legit events for guests (i.e. free coffe/tea in the morning, a nice lunch special, and a great happy hour). They also have a great restaurant/bar in the hotel, which almost makes it unnecessary to leave to find something to do. While I didn't get to take advantage of their Summer Salt Pool, but I've been there before and it's a great scene during the day and at night.

Dont stay here... Noisy and bad area

Posted Mar 11, 2015
Over priced valet $40 per night. Area had a ton of homelessness there. Hotel was doing construction but we were not told about it until we got into our room with a note and ear plugs!

I am sorry to read that your visit to the hotel and the local area was disappointing- that is definitely not the impression we want to leave you with. Our renovation of the upper floors will soon be completed and we have had minimal comments from our guests about noise levels. We regret if you were inconvenienced by the construction. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback again, I am sorry you were not pleased with your stay. Sincerely, Patty Fletcher

Good Hotel in the city

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: I wanted a decent place in the city and the hotel met that expectation. I probably would've been fine with something less expensive though.
Cons: Ice machines. Clean the rooms better. Cheaper on demand menu.
Location: GasLamp district is right there with lots of restaurants and nightlife. Balboa Park is a 5 minute drive away.
The hotel is in an interesting area. You're within a short walking distance of the Gaslamp's restaurants and the nightlife is healthy on the weekends. The downside is there's quite a few homeless and plenty of panhandlers within that walk too. So city life goes. The hotel's staff was very nice, housekeeping did a good job. We stayed on the tenth floor and I'd recommend the higher floors for the view and distance from the street noise (which we couldn't hear even on weekend nights when it was plenty loud at ground level). The rooms could be better maintained for the prices though, with plenty of scuff marks all around and what looked like dried spit on the closet door. Gotta wipe everything down housekeeping!! And although I could've found it out beforehand, it was a small surprise that parking would be extra. I was told $40 for hotel parking, valet only, and $30 right across the street, or $15 a few blocks away. We parked across the street and it was $30 a couple of nights and $20 a couple of nights...My major complaint would be no ice machines!!

Dear Baxter Thank you for sharing the details about your recent stay. We appreciate the kind comments about our staff. I'm sorry if you were inconvenienced by not having an ice maker on the guestroom floor. Our staff is happy to provide ice and have it brought to the rooms, but we realize you may have preferred it to be more readily accessible. We do hope you will be back to the area and consider visiting again. Sincerely, Patty Fletcher

Fantastic modern hotel

Posted Jan 12, 2015
We stayed in this hotel for 4 days recently and had a great time! We loved the modern and fun vibe the hotel has. The position of the hotel is perfect right on 5th avenue a close walk to everywhere. We also made use of the rooftop pool which was heated and very enjoyable!

Nice hotel, great location

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Pros: Location, comfort and friendly staff. The complimentary wine in the foyer each afternoon was lovely.
Cons: Parking fee a bit high. Bathroom door not very private.
Location: Right near Gaslamp and Horton Plaza shopping.
We recently had a 3 night stay in San Diego and The Palomar Hotel was very comfortable and close to restuarants and shopping. Easy access by car to the zoo and seaworld too.

Nice hotel walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. Only down part is the $40 a day parking since hotel does not have a parking lot.
