Had better customer service. Saved by fab locationPosted Mar 31, 2015
3 night stay. Great location and room just OK. Had better customer service but no real problems. Stroppy waitress at breakfast. Thick layer of dust on picture rail in the room. But. The location is just fantastic. Used buses to get every where or walked along sea wall. Would actually stay there again.

First time to Vancouver.Posted Mar 29, 2015
Great first time. Friendly people. Anyone coming in for the first time should check out Grouse Mt and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Both are a must do. The Sylvia is located very central to many things, much within walking distance. It's unique charm and history make it a relaxing place to stay.

Great location! The room was very simple but very comfortable. Love the ocean view from the bar! Have stayed here many times and will happily continue to do so.

Location: Stanley Park and the sea walk
It is a wonderful place on the beach at which I have stayed at twice. I have taken my dog with me and she is welcome there. It is a warm and cozy place.

Great location for this gem of hotelPosted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: location and comfortable room
Location: Granville Market, Shopping, Stanley Park, Running on beach, photography
This is a great hotel to stay if you like to walk/run/stroll the area. It is right on the beach and close to lots of shopping, eating places and transit. It is an older hotel, but has a comfortable bed, a good shower and you can open the window at night. The hotel has character. We stayed for four nights.

Pros: The location, and the bed was extremely comfortable!
Cons: The rooms are showing their age with a lot of wear, could use some remodeling.
The location is excellent! Beautiful view of the bay, very close close to shopping and restaurants without feeling the crush of downtown.

Location is Everything!Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: The service was great and the history of the building!
Cons: Showers needed more pressure and hot water was not that hot
Great Heritage hotel with the finest location in Vancouver! We had a very cozy room on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of English bay.We were a hop skip and a jump from the sea wall and to Denman street where the selection of restaurants and shops were plentiful! We would highly recommend the Sylvia!

Great location!Posted Mar 10, 2015
Pros: I loved the fact that this is an old hotel with lots of character - not your typical modern hotel but with all the necessary conveniences.
Cons: I found the bed to be way too soft and not great for someone with back issues.
Location: The hotel is located right by Stanley Park and also close to Granville Island.
This hotel is in a great location - right by Stanley Park and close to shops and things to do and see. It has a lovely little restaurant that overlooks the ocean.
