location location location

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Didn't stay long enough to say that there were things that needed improving. Not the cleanest or newest hotel, but a quality stay
Location: 14th street. Georgetown is probably a short cab ride away as well.
Not too familiar with DC but stayed and extra night after a work trip. 14th street is filled with restaurants and shops and seems to be an IT neighborhood. The Helix is a few short steps from 14th street which is very walkable. On the one night I stayed there was a wine HH from 5PM-6PM which offered free glasses of wine served by the staff. Guy pouring the wine was super cool and personable. All and all I'd say this is a great place to stay if you want somewhere close. It's more of a trendy vibe so if you don't find that of interest or can't appreciate the style you might be better suited somewhere else.

DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: NICE STAFF- DOG FRIENDLY
Cons: CLEANER-MORE ATTENTION TO DETAILS OF CLEANING
Location: LOTS OF RESTAURANTS AND BARS- NOT CONVENIENT TO VISITING MUSEUMS OR GOVT. BUILDINGS OF INTEREST.
STAFF WERE GREAT WITH DOGS, ROOMS WERE FINE, DECORATED-CUTE SOMEWHAT COMFORTABLE. THERER WAS NO LIGHT IN THE HALL WHERE THE DRESSER WAS LOCATED. THE ROOM WAS NOT CLEAN - LIGHTS AND CERTAIN THINGS IN THE ROOM LOOKED INCREDIBLY UNCLEAN. THE LOBBY WAS ENJOYABLE, LIVELY AND INVITING. THE LOCATION IS CONVENIENT TO 14TH STREET BUT NOT TO WHITE HOUSE AND OTHER GOVT. BUILDINGS.

Interesting hotel, walking distance to monuments!

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: The hotel was clean, convenient to our previously booked plans, and in a safe neighborhood.
Cons: The amenities were a bit out dated (rust in the bathtub and an older bathroom sink)
Location: The National Mall was great, the monuments, International Spy Museum, Verizon Center, Smithsonian, many other museums
This hotel has a lot of character. You instantly feel transported out of the busy streets of DC to a more modern, gardenesque place. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were able to fully enjoy a full weekend in DC thanks to their flexibility. The hotel was clean and while we were unable to make it to the free wine happy hour, it was definitely appealing when booking!

Great retro style hotel in a great location!

Posted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: Location and retro design!
Location: Great restaurants and bars. It is very close to Churchkey which is the best beer spot in DC and also Commissary which is a fantastic breakfast spot.
Stayed here for a night in the city. Great location for lots of good spots up and down 14th street area. Did not use the lounge or fitness center at all. Love the retro decor of the rooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Unusual Hotel

Posted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: The decor is really neat.
Location: Convenient to everything and on a quiet street.
Good location. Decor is unusual. Staff is very friendly. I left my Kindle there and when I called housekeeping had it and made arrangements to return it to me. Breakfast is adequate.

A lot of character

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: 0.5 mile from metro.
The hotel has a lot of character. Sometimes to the detriment of convenience (e.g. bathroom, dressing room). Very large room, but not very useful furniture. Decoration is over the board (at least for someone born in Europe).

Conference with State Department

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: The overall service, the cleanliness of the room!
Cons: Just remodel.
Location: Everything that I wanted to do was quite far away. However, I had one evening meal close to the hhotel that was delightful
I found the hotel very outdated and needing a lot of remodeling throughout. Having said that, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was wonderful. Regrettably, my meetings were at the State Department which made taxi service rather expensive. I was an Expedia traveler and was surprised that breakfast was not provided. The ala carte menu was very good. When you remodel, I think the hotel will be great based on the service that I received. If possible try to make the courtyard where the taxis arrive safer. jtl

A hotel that feels like home

Posted Jan 20, 2015
I stay here every time I visit Washington, D.C. It's in the center of everything I want to do and where I want to go. I often forget it's a hotel because it's nestled in the middle of a great neighborhood. I actually feel like it's my own little apartment in the city. I love this place. You'll feel at home.
