“Excellent value, clean and basic”

This place suited our needs perfectly for a stop-over in Dresden between Prague and Berlin. It was just across the road from the restored old town that we had come to see and walking distance from the railway station. The hotel is in a communist-era building which was spacious and scrupulously clean. Common areas had plentiful seating, fresh flowers and TVs. The bedroom was very basic but adequate and we had access to shared toilet and washing facilities. The price we paid included a generous buffet breakfast. Excellent value!

“Weekend break at City Herberge Dresden”

Based on 5 night stay for 3 in a family room with en suite. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Well serviced room. Good all you can eat continental breakfast included. Clean, warm, dry and quiet. 10 minutes to the old town and all the major sites with a major tram stop only 5 minutes away and a car hire centre even closer. Bar on site was simple but very reasonably priced. Would definitely use again and recommend to others.

“Pleasantly surprised, great location”

We were not expecting a lot as this hotel is a hostel/hotel, so we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was great - clean, modern looking, bright coloured paintings on the wall, white and coloured towels in the bathroom. My 2 complaints would be (1) that this is the first accommodation I have stayed in that did not provide soap of any sort – fortunately we had some with us! (2) our room was next to the elevator and was very noisy as a consequence. If we had been staying longer than the 2 nights would have requested a change. The wifi worked the first day but after that we had to use our laptop in the reception area and even then it was not very good. Breakfast was included, no hot food but plenty of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and the meat, cheese, rolls etc you expect here. The location could not have been bettered – cross the road, walk less than 5 minutes and you are in the old town. Plenty of shopping complexes between the old town and the railway station which is approximately 20 minutes walk from the hotel.

“Affordable stay close to the city center”

It is actually more hostel than hotel, but everyone who can read already knows. For the first sight the building is not a very beautiful one, but inside it is more than ok. The rooms are small, but good for short stay. Bathrooms and toilets on floor, but you can always find one clean (dont know if it is so, when more people come). The best is the breakfast, very nice buffet.

“The hotel was fine, but it is in Dresden”

I suppose that I expected more out of Dresden than I encountered. While the hotel was fine for what it was, I found the city not really worth a visit, but that is neither the fault of Expedia nor Cityherbege Hotel.

“For the cheap "City by Foot" types!”

Stayed in a double room so it was definitely more than a typical "hostel" has for comfort and all with a normal bathroom with the room included as well. More of a hotel atmosphere and the breakfast was pretty good for being included in the room rate. Definitely the closest "cheap" accomidation I could find to be able to walk out and around the primary old city area on foot without needing any other mode of transportation. Worth staying if you like to see the city by foot!
