“Good effort, poor attention to detail”
The Comfort Inn Hotel Apartments in Dubai is a great place to stay if you're on a budget in what, admittedly, is a fairly expensive city. The studio apartment rooms are comfortable enough and pleasant overall, but a few minor annoyances soured our stay. First off, service at the hotel was frustrating at best. Our room had only one soup bowl and we needed a second bowl for dinner. However, after 5 calls to the front desk and 2 days of waiting, we still never received another bowl. The pots and pans included in our room were either okay or shabby (our frying pan's handle was nearly off, but after the bowl incident, we figured it wasn't worth the effort to try for a new one). In-room electricity is controlled by a number of confusing, vaguely-labeled switches. The in-room washer is great, but there's no dryer or drying racks available. Frequent requests for extra towels were ignored. The business center is advertised as being open 24 hours, but is in fact open only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The staff is friendly, but the overall lack of detail and full commitment to service is disappointing.
Bonuses: the complimentary shuttle to and from the beach is nice, and the complimentary breakfast service is good. The 24-hour grocery on the ground floor is very handy and carries enough items to get you through a week.
