“Good hotel but expensive”
This was the most expensive hotel that I have ever stayed in but it was certainly not the best. The room was small but clean. There really is no lobby, only a clerk sitting in a small room when entering the hotel. I must say that the clerk(s) were always friendly and helpful. There is a nice pub on the first floor but it can get noisy at night. We were on the 4th floor so the noise was not too bad and did not keep us awake even though our windows were open. If you're staying in the warmer months, your window will be open as well since I don't believe there is air conditioning, although I could be wrong about this. This is a good location....close to all activities and shopping. I felt safe in the area as well. Breakfast was filling but not much variety. You could order an omelet or a full Irish breakfast, along with several types of cereal. There was nothing else on the menu. If you like a big breakfast without much variety, you'll enjoy the breakfast here. The bottom line is Dublin is expensive, and I thought this was the cheapest hotel that was in a prime area, but the fact of the matter is that it's expensive for what you get. You can get cheaper hotel rooms in Dublin but I have heard/read negative things about them. I really had no complaints with the Abbey other than the cost.
